i keep getting "ffmpeg.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry fot he inconvience" all the time.....Help...

This is a short question.
What is your OS?
What is your ffmpeg version?
When did this message appears, OS start-up, dlna browsing, movie streaming?

sorry....guess that would help....I am using windows xp, the ffmpeg is what i downloaded with the newest Servioo, and this happens when really nothing is going on except the servio service is running. I am not even streaming any movies, it starts about 5 minutes after I restart the computer. Sometimes I ill literally have 100 of those messages stacked up on my computer if I leave it alone for a period of time...This is an older computer i use it with could that be a problem? Thanks...

What is your Java version?

Could you check the serviio logging file, post here ? (see signature link)
If log is too big, stop serviio service, clean/remove the log file, then restart serviio service and post log here.

Update your java Version to 7 Update 1 from here...

Also download the latest ffmpeg version for windows from here...

As some of the BBC Iplayer videos need the updated version to work properly

The ffmpeg is located in the bin directory after you extract from the above file just copy and paste it over the one located in program files of serviio in the lib folder and restart the serviio service

ok dl the latest Java with no issues but how do i do the latest FFmpeg. It says it an unknown file ( but doesnt servio6.02 have the latest FFMPEG?) again thanks...

Download WinRAR here and install it then right click the file and choose extract here after its done locate the bin folder and copy the ffmpeg inside to your serviio lib folder and replace the old one

Im assuming its a custom built ffmpeg as its half the size of the new one with alot of the services disabled although zip could tell you more

apprecite your help...i was able to replace the ffmpeg but now it says that ffmpeg.exe is not an excutable windows 32 application...I am running this on windows XP...old computer....works great on my laptop ...is just that the my desktop is too old?...I did update java but was still gettingt he same error...

dont run it just stop and start the serviio service within the start menu and your all set or do a full reboot of your pc also are u using serviio 0.6.0.1 which has a ffmpeg fix?

I am running 6.01 so thought that had the latest FFmpg....I restarted the compter and still got that same message......again thanks for the help....

try this

remove all your online feeds then add them one by one and let them populate till you see the ffmpeg error

then let me know which feed is causing the issue

I dont have any online feeds. It seems to happen when it is refreshing the library.

What does your library mainly consist of format wise?

Please post the serviio DEBUG log file (see my signiture for a how to)...
