Sopcast

I have managed to get a stream working from Sopcast, but some other Sopcast streams don't work. Can someone work out why some don't work?

This is what I did.

1. Launched the Sopcast application on the PC and selected a channel to test.
2. On the Sopcast player, right click, select properties and 'copy' the Location URL that starts http://
3. Within Serviio, 'paste' the URL as a live stream under online resources, then access via the TV.

A stream that works is:

Channel - 6022. HuNaN TV
Video Codec: Windows Media Video 9
Audio Codec: Windows Media Audio 9
32 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo (A/V) 1-pass CBR

An example of a Sopcast stream that won't work (The Samsung C series TV gives a 'file type not supported' message:

Channel - 116230
Audio Codec: Windows Media Audio 9.2
32 kbps, 44 kHz, mono 1-pass CBR
Video Codec: VC-1 VC-1 Advanced Profile

When I double click on FFmpeg.exe in C:\Program Files (x86)\Serviio\lib

I can see the black window containing some white text (and yellow text towards the bottom) but it only shows for a second and then the window disappears.

I have found another Sopcast live stream that works:

I just tried out a sports stream and it worked then the HuNan channel and it didn't, even though they both have the same video and audio codecs. While HuNan was still playing on sopcast i exited serviio then started server and opened the console again, hit force library refresh just to be sure and sure enough, HuNan is now working on my Samsung TV! I'm not sure serviio can just start playing a different stream without being refreshed first, and this seamed like the quickest way.

Yes same channel. I've tried restarting Serviio a few times but I keep getting the message 'not supported file format' on my Samsung C series.

I've got 2 samsung tv's. Works fine on my smaller one but tried it on my LE46C750 and it doesn't work guess it's partly down to the tele.

This is strange... I left Sopcast channel 115566 running on the PC. I have just tried again on the TV and it is now working. I had not changed anything to make it work, I had just left it running.

I wonder if there is some sort of cache going on that does not get cleared or reset for ages. Perhaps something in Serviio is calculating the length of the program and doesn't reset when you change to a different Sopcast program?

My TV is a Samsung C650.

I am pretty sure Sopcast was working on PS3 Media Server a while back with a plugin. IIRC, it fires up the Sopcast process on the PC for you (and possibly kills it afterward).

All the channels seem to be playing fine now.

I think that I've worked-out a trick to get it working... the problem is in changing Sopcast channels. To get it to work, I have to exit the live Sopcast stream (on the TV) , then change the channel on Sopcast (on your PC), then select the Sopcast stream on the TV for it to play the new channel.

My problem was that I had left the stream running on the TV whilst changing Sopcast channels. Changing the Sopcast channel (on the PC) resulted in the TV exiting the Sopcast stream. When I again selected the Sopcast stream (via the TV) the TV wouldn't then pick up the new channel and gave the 'file format not supported' error message.

If you keep getting the 'file format not supported' error message on the TV for the Sopcast live stream, try going to a different Serviio live stream on the TV (such as the 4OD live streams). Leave it playing for about 30 seconds, then exit. This seems to clear the problem. Then go back to select the Sopcast live stream. It now seems to work (for me).

I have no idea why this problem happens, but I seem to have it working by using this trick.

Oh silly me. I simply had the generic dlna profile selected for my tv i serviio. Works like a charm now with the correct profile

I put as livestream on my xp and this ok , but whem try this thing in WIN7 don't work
