New D8000 series and Matroska

Hello! I am trying to set up 46D8000 to work with Serviio on MacBook. I have succesfully installed Serviio and most of files streams with no problems on my LED TV. But there are problems with some Matroska (*.mkv) files - I am receiving error like 'codec is not supported'. As I understand *.mkv must be transcoded and indeed if check the config file there is new profile entry (id="2") for B series with *.mkv transcoding section. The problem is that in Serviio config client in 'Status' tab 'Renderer Profile' setion I see only 1 line : <TV set IP adderess>, UE46D8000, Generic DLNA profile (but config file has many). The question is - how to create profile for D8000 series? I could dublicate B series config part, but I dont know what must be changet there. I believe the changes must be made in lines

Oh, D series is out? nice. I'd think you should use C series profile, just click on the Generic Profile in the console and you'll be able to select others. Don't forget to Save.
It might still not work with your file, as some H264 streams are not very liked by the TV, but most are (that's why we don't transcode them)

Indeed. I have to click on 'Profile' column and then drop down with profiles appears. How could I miss that? I will post if selection of 'Samsung C series' profile helped. Let's hope. But this will be the half way at least for me as my initial target was to make it all work on Ubuntu 10.10.

In order to identify the D series properly in the future, could you install Intel tools (link in my signature, Win only) and run Device Spy. The locate your TV in the list on the left (there might be multiple entries there), right-click, Get Device Description XML and post the result here (for each in the list)? Preferably pack them all into a zip file and attach to this topic.

awesome so you can confirm that all your files play on a D series when the C series profiel is used ???? can you also confirm what firmware is on your device please

Right now I have only 7 mkvs to test and there are no problems with them. I will try to get some more test samples encoded with different codecs to test with. Maybe such test samples can be downloaded legaly? If yes, can somebody provide the link?

Just found first *.mkv file which can't be played - it gives codec error. Attached ffmpeg log and MediaInfo log. Just saw 'Profile 5' and maybe this is the problem.

Yes, looks like High profile with level 5.

Could you add the bit of XML to your profile as Illico described here? viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2052#p11492
It'll try to transcode it into mpeg2, so will take a lot of CPU (if it's HD)

I also have the D8000 series TV. Unfortunately my video files aren't working. I can get them to work with another DLNA server, just not Serviio. Here is information on one file, any ideas?

What Profile are you using? for this tv you will need to use the Samsung C series profile until the next release when a D series profile will be added..

I am using the Samsung series C profile. Since these same files work through a different DLNA server without transcoding, I believe they will work with my tv. I would prefer to use Serviio though.

yer i know, they always seem to think we transcode files for the fun of it or to make life difficult, and not for the fact it wont work if it isnt transcioded.
