High CPU (99%)

I'm finding my ServiioService.exe continously running at 99% which causes my PC to run so slow that it's virtually unusable. The high usage can occur even if I don't access serviio on my TV.

I've enabled DEBUG logging to see if there is anything that might explain the high CPU usage but nothing stands out for me.

Has anyone else experienced high CPU usage on ServiioService.exe and if so, what did you do to stop it?

Re: High CPU (99%)

Is this a new Serviio install? If so, and if you have a large number of media files to index, it could take some time.

Re: High CPU (99%)

No, not a new installation.

All new media files added are displayed straight away.

Is there anything in the log file that I should look out for?

Re: High CPU (99%)

It isn't the initial display that takes time, it's retrieving online metadata that can take some time. But since it's not a new install, that's probably not it. Zip can answer better what to look for in the log.

Re: High CPU (99%)

maybe it's stuck on a particular file? check the log (detailed log) to see what is the last file being added and try to move it somewhere else

Re: High CPU (99%)

I removed all my shared folders and restarted the Serviio service which seemed to work for about an hour but then noticed my PC CPU was back at 100% (99% was ServiioService.exe).

I looked in the log file again and saw a number of the below entries repeated multiple times.

2018-02-05 22:04:01,647 DEBUG [RendererSearchSender$RendererSearchWorker] Received search response: location: http://192.168.0.222:3457/MediaRenderer.xml, st: urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaRenderer:1
2018-02-05 22:04:01,647 DEBUG [RendererSearchSender$RendererSearchWorker] Received a valid M-SEARCH response from Renderer b713891b-24e9-88a6-d550-12020d9c5041 from address 192.168.0.222
2018-02-05 22:04:01,662 DEBUG [RendererManager] Retrieve device description from http://192.168.0.222:3457/MediaRenderer.xml

192.168.0.222 is the IP of my Netgear WIFI Extender (which is not what my PC is connected to?). Am I right in my interpritation of the logs that the WIFI Extender is sending a message to the Serviio Service to perform a search? If so, how can I stop this?

Re: High CPU (99%)

Doubt that is your issue (try turning off the extender for a while to test?) but you can also disable the device in the Serviio Status screen.
You are looking for the last media file that was indexed in the log before it started going to 100%.

Re: High CPU (99%)

Serviio searches for UPnP devices, and the extender is one of them.

Re: High CPU (99%)

Hi,

I had the high CPU problem and after a while, I found that it was my VPN (Windscrible) was the problem. I unticked the "Force close all the TCP sockets ...... in the API resolution preferences section. Works OK now

Hope this helps someone.

Great software BTW ;)
