2018 Samsung NU7100 doesn't see Serviio

Hello,
I just purchased a 2018 Samsung NU7100 (currently on sale at Bestbuy). I use Serviio extensively and it has worked flawlessly with my other Samsung Tvs (i have 3 others)
This TV does not see my 1.9.2 Windows based Serviio server. My other Samsung TVs do see it.
It does see a Windows 10 Media Player server on the network.

Has anyone else had any experience with this model of Samsung TV?

I want to see if I am just missing a configuration or trick to get this TV to see the Serviio or should I just return it for its lack of support of DLNA servers and DTS audio.

Thanks in advance.

I believe someone else has reported the NU series working with Serviio, so you should have DLNA support. Since it's working with everything else, that points to a networking issue. Is your TV using wireless or Ethernet? If wireless, are you connected to the same SSID? Some routers have guest access enabled, but guest doesn't let the computer see other things on the network. It only allows Internet access.

While my Samsung isn't all that old, I think it's DLNA player is garbage. My Roku players are far better, and my new Shield plays absolutely everything I have, including lossless audio (TrueHD, DTS MA, Atmos, etc.) Samsung makes a great TV, but their DLNA support is lousy.

Re: 2018 Samsung NU7100 doesn't see Serviio

I have tested with both wireless and wired. Only one SSID in use, no guest access enabled.
Home network is a flat 192.168.0.x
Serviio server is hosted on a 2016 server wired to a ubiquity 24 port switch. IPs are handed out by dhcp using mac address reservations.
No firewall between any of the devices on the internal home network
Access point is a Ubiquity AP located right above the TV

I would agree with the networking issue except I can ping the TV from the Serviio server & the TV can see a Win10 Media player that is hard wired only.

I wanted to provide a followup. I just got off the phone with Samsung Support. I have confirmed that the Samsung NU7100 Series does not support DLNA servers. Very disappointing as my other Samsung TVs worked flawlessly. My purchase is going to now be returned. :(

Well, that's crap. But I'm not surprised. I've seen DLNA support either diminished or completely removed from products over the last few years. My previous Sony BD players used to bitstream Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio via DLNA, but now they only pass DTS/MA. When Samsung released their first UHD player, it too would only pass one of the two. That's why I bought an Nvidia Shield for my bedroom setup (the main 4K TV). Now I get full Atmos/DTS:X from my rips. For the rest of my TVs, Roku does very well.

Re: 2018 Samsung NU7100 doesn't see Serviio

So even though Samsung support confirmed for me that they NU7100 doesn't support DLNA servers and I was ready to return the TV, I was able to see my Serviio server as a input option last night and streamed a movie from it with no issues.

So what changed ?

Well I plugged in my ESXi server yesterday. See I just moved to a new house and I am still unpacking / living in boxes so I have not hooked up all of my computer equipment & yesterday I took my ESXi host and plugged it in. This server "should" not have any impact on the network, but it did. I houses a domain controller for my Horizon View test lab. That controller is also the DNS server for that lab.

I still dont know exactly what on the ESXi server fixed the issue but I suspect something to do with DNS on the domain controller was the issue. Just not sure what.

Bottom line is my & Samsung's previous statement about the NU7100 not supporting DLNA is wrong. It does support it and I wanted to clarify that.
