Remote access for iPhone

Morning, all! I've been a fan of Serviio for years (PRO version) and I'm for the first time trying to stream over the internet so I can watch my videos on my iPhone. I use VLC at home with WiFi, but after setting it all up (Incoming connections on my router) I'm able to login using Media Browser, but I can't see any content. I can see my folders (Folders, Favorites, last viewed) but they're all empty.

Any help?

On a related note, as the not so proud owner of an iPhone, is there an app that could help with this pain in the nethers? Can't figure out how to use the Plex, Roku or VLC to access it remotely.

Thanks!

Re: Remote access for iPhone

Make sure you've granted access to your shared library locations to the user account you are using for MediaBrowser. That was a new feature with Serviio 2.0. If you don't assign that user permission, they don't see anything.

Other than MediaBrowser, there is no way to connect to your Serviio media outside your network. The only exception is ServiiGo, which is Android only. Plex does work outside the firewall with other devices. I use it with a Roku player when I travel. VLC needs to be inside the firewall.

DAN! You are the bloody man, Dan! I had absolutely no idea that I had to give permission under each folder for access to the user in question. And then not just OKAY but save the whole page. Wow, I can honestly say I'd've never figured that out on my own. Again, thanks!

Re: Remote access for iPhone

Tell me, can I do the same on my iPhone 11? I would like to know exactly how this is done. I don't want to give my phone for repair when I have the opportunity to figure it out myself and do it for free, even if it takes longer. Someone advised me to use the unlock tmobile phone service to fix this situation, but I'm not sure it's dangerous. I would like to know if anyone here has already used such services and whether it helped you.

You need to be more specific about your issue, if the above comments don't resolve it.

Do what exactly? If your iPhone is connected to your home network that Serviio is on, VLC is an app that can play your media. There's also Infuse, which isn't free but has a better user interface than VLC.

I use nplayer, it works very well.

I could never get vlc to work, it was very buggy. Sometimes audio and black screen, sometimes it plays fine then stops halfway.
