Re: FFmpeg for noobs like me

First off let me just say that I am a recent convert from TVersity and I am LOVING Serviio. Kudos on an amazing application. Now on to my issue, I am having no luck playing a few of my .mp4 files. Here is one in particular:

C:\Program Files\Serviio\lib>ffmpeg.exe -i "F:\Movies\Alien Anthology\1992 Alien III.mp4"
ffmpeg version 0.9, Copyright (c) 2000-2011 the FFmpeg developers
built on Dec 13 2011 20:46:11 with gcc 4.4.2
configuration: --enable-static --disable-shared --disable-ffplay --disable-ffserver --enable-memalign-hack --enable-libmp3lame --enable-librtmp --extra-libs='-lrtmp -lpolarssl -l
ws2_32 -lwinmm' --arch=x86 --enable-runtime-cpudetect --enable-pthreads --target-os=mingw32 --cross-prefix=i686-mingw32- --pkg-config=pkg-config
libavutil 51. 32. 0 / 51. 32. 0
libavcodec 53. 42. 0 / 53. 42. 0
libavformat 53. 24. 0 / 53. 24. 0
libavdevice 53. 4. 0 / 53. 4. 0
libavfilter 2. 53. 0 / 2. 53. 0
libswscale 2. 1. 0 / 2. 1. 0

Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 47.95 (5000000/104271) -> 23.98 (24000/1001)
Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'F:\Movies\Alien Anthology\1992 Alien III.mp4':

Any help with this issue will be appreciated. Oh, and this is on Win7 Home Premium x64 , streaming to an XBOX360.

Re: FFmpeg for noobs like me

So after hours and hours or research it appears that the issue the container holding the data streams. I stumbled across : http://blogs.msdn.com/b/xboxteam/archiv ... k-faq.aspx . So my understanding is that ffmpeg is the underlying issue in regards to transcoding the audio to a suitable ?codec? for the Xbox to play. I thought that perhaps the newest ffmpeg would include that functionality, but it's just a presumption. Why can't I code the Xbox serviio profile to transcode the file to an AVI with ac3 audio? According to that Microsoft site, that should do the trick. I'm sure I'm missing something here. Please feel free to enlighten me.

Re: FFmpeg for noobs like me

avi is not suitable container for on-the-fly transcoding (file being written to while playing)
