this is only a comment and I suppose most of you may not like it, let me start out that I understand that you use a Third Party solution to retrieve the metadata, and I understand that you cannot control their content, with that say even so it still places a liability on you, what i mean the Fed's are cracking down on porn being streamed from Untied States servers and sites, and if i have my serviio server pointed to the internet for personal use to stream movies I have purchased to my family or my own device, and the thumbnail representing those movies are labeled with 'porn' titles and the Fed's decide to raid me I have to go through that mess until the find out that the thumbnail are in fact wrong, whom do you think I would sue first.
Now I love Serviio, and probably there is not a easy solution, but in the day and age guilt by association still gets you 25 to life in prison. (that is just a phase). I think most reading this will think I am hammer Serviio, but I am not, what I am saying if you have so many complaints about metadata returning 'porn' thumbnails for movie title, then should you not reconsider whom you are getting this data from. I have a simple movie title 'Aliens' give me 'My Dirty Home Movies 2' with vivid naked woman showing and that really disturbs me, and then to fix it I have to go to "www.themoviedb.org" and search the movie title and try and rename the file so that it get the correct cover and description is ludicrous, I have over 1410 movies and some 8289 TV series episodes. You try renaming all of that and tell me how you would feel. And there is no guarantee that the correct title will stay, could be correct today and tomorrow have a porn title again even though you renamed the file to the correct name. I have that happen several times.
Lucky I had a backup and was able to restore the items that were affected and then just capture the thumbnails and then just placed the images of the movies in the directory and turned everything off and had it just look for the covers locally, some do not always load but when that happens I just get a thumbnail of the a frame in the movie, way better than a naked girl, that I then have to explain why that is there especially if my kids are using Serviio to streaming cartoons with there friends and there friend parents see that. That is not a situation I need to repeat, here is where it could have gone bad, they could have reported that to the authorities, and I would have had to explain why I was showing porn to minors, it does not matter that the thumbnail was wrong and the movie was not actually porn, but the image itself was enough to make it a crime. I have no porn on my server, I do not like porn, and to have it shoved down my throat from a software I like angers me even more. And then to have the owner of the software push it off as a Third Party issue is even worse, you know it is happening but you take no action in correcting it, you look the other way, that is what I meant by 'guilt by association still gets you 25 to life in prison.
Plex does not have this issue, Why does Serviio?
