Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

INFORMATION:

_______________________________________

This thread was used for the development of the Sony BDP profile at a time when new things were being discovered faster than Serviio was being updated.
The profile included with Serviio 0.5.1 is now considered to be mature and is multi-region, so most of the information in this thread is now out of date, and will most likely confuse new users.
For further information about the design of this device profile, see the
Readme, or look at the comments in profiles.xml.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

FAQ

Things to know
- Make sure you are browsing the proper section of the Sony XMB (press Home then left several times).
The Serviio audio, image and video folders will all show up in each category due to how DLNA servers work - it's just the Sony that insists on having a menu for each category.
- MKV "Data corrupted" potential solution : viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1132
- AVC H264 High Profile maximum Level is 4.1 (use TsMuxer to change level)

Supported
- Thumbnail artwork only support for photos media using JPEG_TN resource.
- Subtitle and Multi Audio Tracks are supported from MKV and MPEG Transport Stream files over DLNA (European model)

Not Supported
- Thumbnail artwork for video or audio media are not supported.
- Subtitle not supported in MPEG program streams (VOB files in other words). The player supports these from disc, but not via DLNA
- SRT subtitle files not supported

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Hello Illico, this is a great post! Thanks for compiling a central resource for the profile for the BDP-S370.

I am currently using this profile and encountered a problem with a collection of files. I have tried everything I could come up with.
The actual problem is that when playing the specific MP4 files (HDlite type). The sound plays intermittently.

  Code:
V:\Movies (HDL)\The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) (HDL)>ffmpeg.exe -i "The Sorcer
er's Apprentice.mp4"
FFmpeg version SVN-r23012, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers
  built on May  3 2010 19:05:24 with gcc 3.4.5 (mingw-vista special r3)
  configuration: --enable-static --disable-shared --disable-ffplay --disable-ffs
erver --enable-memalign-hack --enable-libmp3lame --enable-w32threads --extra-ldf
lags=-L/static/lib --extra-cflags=-I/static/include
  libavutil     50.15. 0 / 50.15. 0
  libavcodec    52.66. 0 / 52.66. 0
  libavformat   52.62. 0 / 52.62. 0
  libavdevice   52. 2. 0 / 52. 2. 0
  libswscale     0.10. 0 /  0.10. 0

Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 47.95 (66893/
1395) -> 23.98 (66893/2790)
Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice.mp4':
  Metadata:
    major_brand     : isom
    minor_version   : 1
    compatible_brands: isom
  Duration: 01:49:03.01, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 2953 kb/s
    Stream #0.0(und): Video: h264, yuv420p, 1280x528 [PAR 1:1 DAR 80:33], 2547 k
b/s, 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 66893 tbn, 47.95 tbc
    Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, 5.1, s16, 402 kb/s
At least one output file must be specified

I have provided an FFmpeg -i information set above.

I am running Serviio 4.2, on a Windows Home Server (AMD5050e processor), besides Serviio, only Asset UPNP is running for audio. (And the standard WHS console for Backups etc)

If there is anything I can try to make these files play without a hitch it would be great. (Video plays perfectly using the latest profile in this Topic)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This mp4 file must be transcoded to mpegts with ac3 audio
<Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3">
<Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" />
</Video>
Audio stuttering, is probably due to audio bitrate issues: http://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/is ... bitrate-to
We can try some test to confirm :
Could you provide a detailed logging file when you start to transcode this mp4 file?

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Ilico,

Thank you for your quick response. Feeling bad now that I was so slow in responding you.
Today I had the opportunity to check again.

I turned on the detailed logging for the file mentioned before The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I am curious if you can see anything from this debug log.

It actually seems the issue mentioned in the BitBucket case.
Thank you in advance

PS: Today I found out that there is a new firmware for the player, however I will continue using the previous firmware just to keep the parameters equal. :)

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

So far this works on my sony s570 with no problem. I have only tried mp4 and avi files. so far so good though. I will try to get a ton of different files and try them out. Just an inquiry, why is the mp4 playing as an m2ts file instead of an mpeg like everything else.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

This is my first post in the serviio forums and so, Hello everyone! Also a big thanks to Zip for this awesome software.

I have a US model of BDP-S370 and also have the latest beta version of Serviio. Probably the changes from this latest beta means that the US version profile above is not valid because of the tag "X-AV-Client-Info" has been replaced with "FriendlyName". If someone knowledgeable of the chanes for the beta could please update the profile XML too, that'd be awesome.

Have a great weekend.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Dear friends,

I need to get your help. I have the US Model of the S370. A brief:

- The Blu-Ray S370 has the lastest firmware M03.R.695
- I got a "Unsupported file" message with any DivX and AVI files
- I can play MP4 files
- All the DivX files (with subtitles) works excellent with my PS3 and my Samsung TV.
- I updated the Profile according to the a preview post by Illico

Do you try with
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/divx">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>

Could you provide "ffmpeg -i <moviesfile>" result ?

Hi Illico,

Tonight, I will try with your suggestion. It's like the PS3's profile.
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/divx">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>

Attached are two files with "ffmpeg" reports, both files work excellent with my PS3 and Samsung C7000 TV.

Please, let me know if you need more information.

Best Regards!

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

I also have problems with some AVI files which shows up as MPEG but on playing gives The file is corrupt or unsupported.
Using the US profile for BDP S370 from this thread (tweaked for the latest beta) and running Serviio 0.5b4...

Here are the ffmpeg analysis of two avi files, one that plays and another that doesn't.

This one plays fine:
  Code:
FFmpeg version SVN-r23012, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers
  built on May  3 2010 19:05:24 with gcc 3.4.5 (mingw-vista special r3)
  configuration: --enable-static --disable-shared --disable-ffplay --disable-ffserver --enable-memalign-hack --enable-libmp3lame --enable-w32threads -extra-ldflags=-L/static/lib --extra-cflags=-I/static/include
  libavutil     50.15. 0 / 50.15. 0
  libavcodec    52.66. 0 / 52.66. 0
  libavformat   52.62. 0 / 52.62. 0
  libavdevice   52. 2. 0 / 52. 2. 0
  libswscale     0.10. 0 /  0.10. 0
Input #0, avi, from 'M:\Movies\CID Moosa\cidmoosa.cd1.avi':
  Metadata:
    ISFT            : VirtualDubMod 1.5.4.1 (build 2178/release)
    IAS1            : English
  Duration: 01:31:02.36, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1075 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg4, yuv420p, 640x480 [PAR 1:1 DAR 4:3], 25 tbr, 25 tbn, 25 tbc
    Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 32000 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 96 kb/s
At least one output file must be specified

And this one doesn't:
  Code:
FFmpeg version SVN-r23012, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers
  built on May  3 2010 19:05:24 with gcc 3.4.5 (mingw-vista special r3)

  libswscale     0.10. 0 /  0.10. 0
[mpeg4 @ 014f0ab0]Invalid and inefficient vfw-avi packed B frames detected

Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 23.98 (65535/2733) -> 23.98 (2997/125)
Input #0, avi, from 'M:\Movies\Annorikkal\ANNORIKAL.cd1.avi':

Any help is really appreciated...

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

So it seems that avi files with mp4 video and mp3 audio are not supported by Sony BR players, I will check that...
We probably need to transcode them, could you try this:
  Code:
     <!-- unsupported codecs will be transcoded into mpeg2ts, mpeg2video and ac3 audio (MPEG_TS_SD_EU). -->
     <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3">
      <Matches container="asf" />
      <Matches container="avi" vCodec="mjpeg" />
      <Matches container="avi" vCodec="mpeg4" />
     </Video>

I shall definitely try that transcoding option. But from the two files' codec info above, I thought they both are avi with mp4/mp3, right? To my untrained eye only the fps, bitrate and the resolutions differ. Could those be the reasons for one being unsupported? :(

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

I just check my AVI sample files with my European BDP-S373 (Sony BluRay Player EU profile automatically selected)
With that EU profile, the AVI files use the generic mime-type : video/x-msvideo, no mime-type change.
On my Log file, file are delivered in native format (without transcoding).
On my Sony XMB menu, AVI file are displayed with [DivX] icon and [*] character before file name.
2010-12-22 13:39:13,703 DEBUG [VideoDeliveryEngine] Delivering item '8174' for client 'IPAddress=/192.168.1.10, Profile=Sony BD Player EU'
2010-12-22 13:39:13,703 DEBUG [VideoDeliveryEngine] Delivering file '05_[__2012__][MPEG4_ASL5_XviD_MP3].avi' in native format

All others AVI file works perfectly...
Could you try removing avi mime-type change line on your US Sony BluRay Profile (or comment)?

Yes, avi with mp4/mp3.
With MediaInfo tools, I also check detailed codec information on my AVI samples
MPEG-4 Visual, XviD 1.2.1
MPEG-4 Visual, DivX 5.0.3
MPEG-4 Visual, DivX 5.2.1 Alpha
MPEG-4 Visual, DivX 6.8.5
All work fine.

I don't think so. Is it an US firmware limitation? license ?

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Could you try with that sample AVI/DIVX file:
http://showcase7.divx.com/mobile/Sintel ... p_ASP.divx
For my European BDP-S373, that work fine.

Also, Audio Track selection and Subtitles selection works fine...
