Sony Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System Model # BDV-T58

Phone HTC G2

I found SERVIIO yesterday and I like it very much!
The only issue I have is that I can not see any of the plugins or image thumbnail but the stream is excellent and I can load the movie to the theatre system using the phone so that is sweet :-)

Thank you so much for SERVIIO.

Re: Compatible devices list

You should add the Philips 40PFL4706/F7 DLNA compatible TV to the list. Serviio has brought amazing life to this TV. I am able to play even online streams.
Great work in providing this server. It is the best upnp software out there for the Mac and the iPhone . On the iPhone the best renderer is Media:connect.
I can't wait to pay for it.

Re: Compatible devices list

Server: MacBook Pro 17" w/ 4-bay Drobo FS running Serviio 1.0.1
DLNA Renderer - Video: Sony BDP-S590
DLNA Renderer - Audio: Denon DNP-720AE (*although I mainly use Twonky NAS-special on a WD MyBook Live for music)
DLNA Controller - BubbleUPnP (android) and the built-in UI for the Sony BD

I am just starting with Serviio, but if I continue to like it, I am going to try moving over to the embedded version for the WD MyBook Live and I will remux my movies into a format that eliminates the need to transcode for the Sony (probably m2ts).

Nice work, Serviio Team!

Re: Compatible devices list

I just installed Serviio yesterday, and bought the pro version today, because it ROCKS with my devices, so far.
I have an Oppo BD-93 and also an Asus O!Play. The Oppo is wirelessly connected and the O!play is wired. Both
my devices are already compatible with 99% of my files, so I turned transcoding off in the Serviio console. I have
tried the media browser from my laptop and my HTC Android and they both work as well. I have about 200 blu-ray
rips in MKV h264 format, and they average 10 to 20 mbps when streaming. The Serviio doesn't even flinch as
opposed to all the other Upnp efforts I've tried. And I've tried many free and paid efforts.
I should mention I have a very fast network in my apartment.

Of course, I already have some questions, but I am already very happy with Serviio.

Re: Compatible devices list

Serviio on my DS212 works well to stream audio to my NAD C446 streamer. Both FLAC and mp3.
Contrary to using the default Synology Media Server, I can now navigate through Artists by their first letter. For some reason, that did not work with Media Server; it may sound like a small issue, but when you have about 5000 songs, it makes navigating so much easier ! Only downside is that Serviio is somewhat slower to react than Media Server .
And I must say that installation of Serviio was very well explained and easy even for someone not versed into Lunix.

THANK YOU !

Re: Compatible devices list

I use a Sony 3D WiFi Built-in Blu-ray Player BDP-S570 and it seems to work very good.

Also use a Panasonic Viera TC-P50ST-50 and that seems to work great too.

I usually have no problem running most of the MKV files I download but sometimes the audio is not quite right or my server cannot keep up with the encoding requirements (I have a Q6600, conntected via Gigabit Ethernet).

To keep things simple I just re-encode all the stuff I get with Handbrake to the 'High Profile' preset in MKV format and constant quality RF20 while stripping out the audio streams I don't need. That reduces the file size (lower streaming requirements) but 1080p stuff still looks the same as far as I can tell. That way my TV and BD player can play the files natively and it allows me to use the server for other stuff while watching movies.

Re: Compatible devices list

On the Philips Tv profile the following lines have to be included for the Tv to be able to play the formats avi,mp4 and m4v:

<Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" aCodec="aac" />
<Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" aCodec="ac3" />
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="mpeg4" />
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="msmpeg4" />
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="mjpeg" />

The clip was included in serviio version 0.6 but got lost in versions 1.01 and 1.1.

Needed exactly the same last 3 lines for Sharp Aquos to play avi format.
Probably needed first two lines too but didn't tried mp4 yet.

Re: Compatible devices list

Recently I've installed SERVIIO rev. 1.1 on my WINDOWS 8 PRO PC. I've a NAS (Lacie NetworkSpaceMax) connected directly to router and router itself connected to NETGEAR powerline 500 nano. My tV set Samsung UE46ES8000 connected (ethernet) to grid via another powerline adapter. During serviio setup I choose the Samsung A profile (I do not know if that's correct or not as specific profile does not exist). All is operating as expected.
UE46ES8000 could be signed as compatible

Re: Compatible devices list

I forgot to post. Working a treat with an Oppo BDP-93, using m2ts Blu-Ray rips with HD audio and also playing fine with my DVD mkv rips. I never recompress anything either. No glitches at all, very happy :)

Oh and I'm just using the Generic profile at the moment. I suspect you'd need lines to transcode HD audio to LPCM or other from MKV as it won't play them in an MKV container.

Re: Compatible devices list

PS3, Panasonic V20A TV working fine, and an iPad and iPhone (running the 8player app - haven't fully tested these yet but seems to work OK on my LAN).

Changed the profiles.xml for the PS3 to transcode a couple of files causing issues:

    <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" aBitrate="384">
    :
    added the following line
    <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="mpeg4"/>
    :
    </Video>
and for the Panasonic:

    <Profile id="viera2010" name="Panasonic Viera (2010)" extendsProfileId="viera2011a">
      :
      changed the following line
      <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3">
      to
      <Video targetContainer="mpegts">
as video and audio transcoding don't seem to be required for my TV (Panasonic V20A) and my collection of mkv files. Remuxing works fine.

Lastly created a simple profile for the iPad app (which doesn't support AC3 audio). This is a simple profile just to get most files up and running at this stage and will likely grow over time.

    <Profile id="iPad" name="iPad 8Player" extendsProfileId="1">
    <Transcoding>
    <Video targetContainer="m2ts" targetACodec="mp3" aBitrate="384">
      <Matches container="*" aCodec="ac3" />
    </Video>
    </Transcoding>
    </Profile>
