Sony BDP-S590 - issues with Serviio profiles

I'm using Serviio Pro 1.4 with a Sony BDP-S590 and when I use the Serviio 'Sony BDP-x90 (2012)' profile, it has issues with some AVI files. The scenes with lots of motion become so pixelated that you cannot make out what is on the screen until the scene changes. If I switch to the Serviio 'Sony Bravo TV (2012) US' profile, that problem goes away but then there are playback problems with MVK files. The screen is stretched and fast forward and reverse do not work well on most videos of any format and sometimes I have to power off the Sony because it locks up when fast forwarding and reversing.

Can I edit the 'Sony BDP-x90 (2012)' profile so it does not have the pixilation issue with AVI's? Specifically, what would I edit?

Here is the info for one of the videos:

Here's a screen shot of a scene:

Its so bad you can't watch any of the AVI's when using the 'Sony BDP-x90 (2012)' profile.

It's probably due to "Format settings, QPel : Yes" on video track.

I think Sony device only support Xvid with QPEL = No and GMC : 0 / No warppoints.

Re: Sony BDP-S590 - issues with Serviio profiles

Thanks for the info.

So does that mean there is no way for Serviio to serve those videos to the Sony so it plays properly? It does play the same videos just fine if I use the Bravio TV profile but it often times locks up the Sony if I use fast forward or reverse and although rarely... sometimes during normal playback.

Re: Sony BDP-S590 - issues with Serviio profiles

This specific avi file is not supported in native by your device, so it must be transcoded.

Your device support AVI with some restrictions...So when you have problem with avi file with the "BDP 2012" profile (like this one) , I suggest to open serviio console, manually change profile to "BDP 2012 US" (US device does not support avi).
Play your file ( it will be transcoded). Then at the end change back to the original "BDP 2012" profile for future use.

PS: With current serviio/fmpeg implementation we can not detect these specific restrictions (QPEL, GMX...)
