Serviio No Longer in Media Options on BR Player

I have a Sony HBD-E770W installed on my network and up until recently has worked fine with the Serviio Server and the 'app' showed up in the media options in the menu system.

Now, it doesn't. I've tried resetting the BR player back to factory defaults. I have scanned the network for the Serviio server. I have reinstalled over Serviio server on my 'serving' PC. I have completely uninstalled the Serviio software on the PC and reinstalled it from scratch. I have even verified my network connection by accessing 'apps' like Netflix or Amazon Prime for streaming content, and all works except accessing Serviio. All other devices, whether on the LAN or accessing from outside my network (i.e. "out in the world") can see the Serviio setup using ServiiGo or the Web/Media browser. The BR player refuses to see the Serviio server.

The hosting machine is:
Q6600 2.4Ghz / 4GB RAM
Windows Home Server 64-bit
6TB pooled NAS using DrivePool

In addition, since the last Serviio update, my audio has ceased to work or be recognized by Serviio Server. I have my personal audio stash on a network drive which all devices on my LAN can access, including the Serviio hosting machine. For some reason, the latest update fubar'd that access and it worked fine before the update. Is this also being worked on? I would like to be able stream my music again.

Re: Serviio No Longer in Media Options on BR Player

This sounds suspiciously like a firewall issue on your server. I have a server running Home Server 2011, and while I don't have Serviio on it, it does offer Windows Media Sharing, which is DLNA based. Looking at my server, I see the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, Private Profile, is green (port opened). This is under the Inbound Rules of the firewall control app. Since you have Serviio installed there, make sure it is green as well.

Is it possible that the firewall rules changed somehow? For example, does the server think your network is public or private? I have seen Windows computers that lost their network connection and then had it restored change their settings to Public, which would hide Serviio (and all other network resources). Worth looking into...

Re: Serviio No Longer in Media Options on BR Player

I got the music part working - it would appear that I was impatient in that regard as the program needed to re-parse all the music again after I blew away the install and reinstalled Serviio.

Well while typing this up, initially stating that the BR player wasn't working, now it works. I've enabled ALL inbound AND outbound rules regarding Windows Media Player Network Sharing Services .... and, since the firewall was completely disabled (I did this manually myself long ago when I set up the server), I re-enabled it ....

Lo and behold and a BAM or 2 .... Serviio now shows up ....

smh

If it was simply enabling the firewall to begin with, I'm going to be very embarrassed that I didn't think of it!
