first off I would like to thank you for this awesome plugin, which I've been using for almost half a year.

Unfortunately I've been having problems since I upgraded to 1.4.1. On the previous version it was running very smooth, but now the streams suddenly cut off after 2-3 mins of streaming or/and they become extremely laggy and choppy. Sometimes the source resolution stream works fine for a few minutes and then stops and refuses to play again without a serviio restart. I haven't changed anything in my setup and the problems occured immediately after the serviio upgrade.

i get that too, sometimes, but force refreshing a couple of times usually leaves me with a somewhat stable stream. i think it's due to the usual overloaded twitch servers and the 1.4/1.4.1 timeline is just coincidental. either way, wouldn't be anything i could do about it aside from trying different ffmpeg binaries.

Hi,
I have a weird problem : the plugin detects twich.tv as justin.tv ( i think)

I have the same issue, it happens on all qualities that isn't source pretty much, and in 9/10 cases source is unwatchable due to lag :( Also only on the ps3.

andreyv wrote:I think I may be observing something similar. I recently installed Serviio on a Windows computer. The configuration is (internet) --> (router/lan) --> (serviio) --> (router/wifi) --> (tv). When I watch a 720p stream through serviio on my TV, it lags significantly, every second, and is unwatchable. But when I display the same stream without serviio, through HDMI from my laptop computer, there are no lags at all, even though the laptop still has the old 802.11g wifi.

I haven't had time to look a the detailed logs or try it in VLC yet.

I now tried this in VLC, and it works flawlessly. So it seems that my TV is malfunctioning, perhaps a recent firmware update broke something… very sad.

Re: Twitch.tv/Justin.tv

Hi registered to mention i am having the exact same issue i can watch source perfectly (slight lag because of my router) anything under source has horrible stutter (sound is fine) where it runs ok for a few seconds then stops and goes really fast then does the same again. has been happening since the new version of serviio came out but i have also tested on older versions and have the same issue.

Also is there a way of fixing it so that i don't lose some of the screen around the edges?

Re: Twitch.tv/Justin.tv

I know this is a pretty old thread but I am having issues with my Twitch streaming from my iMac using 1.4.x and a PS3. I have the plug-in set up (thank you!) and have streams playing. I get really weird playback, the audio sounds fine, though the video stutters, meaning it freeze for about 4 seconds, then fast forwards through the frozen frames, then does it again, over and over. Even on the PS3, I can push "select" during playback, and can see the AVC stream at 2.5-8.5Mbps, then go blank, etc....

Is this a problem with Serviio, the PS3, or maybe my router (C1000A). The server is through wifi from the Mac to router, then the router to PS3 is Cat5.

Any ideas?

i am having the exact same issue using a windows pc and a ps3 when i watch for example twitch.tv/lirik it plays on source but anything lower does what you described but when i watch twitch.tv/riotgames not even source works but i think thats because it has around 150k viewers most of the time.

im not sure if its Serviio related or plugin related or even twitch related

Re: Twitch.tv/Justin.tv

how about ps3 related? i realize that there's little you can do to remedy that part of the chain, but it's the most likely after reading through the comments here. maybe it just doesn't handle the encoding profile twitch uses nowadays very well.

Re: Twitch.tv/Justin.tv

Thank you so much for such amazing software!

This plugin is enriching my life and I really appreciate it.

Your hard work is much appreciated, I couldn't get justin.tv to work with any other upnp server or plugin.

Suffering badly with this too. Strange how some streams work perfectly well and others are horrendously laggy and unwatchable. Hope it gets fixed soon, when it does i'll purchase an upgrade. So far I wouldn't consider it value for money

sorry, but this kind of criticism is better left in the twitch support forums. because that's where the problem lies.

Re: Twitch.tv/Justin.tv

Hi , I've been using your plugin before and it worked perfectly. now I've upgraded my laptop to windows 8.1 and running the newest version of serviio, but still using the same tv a samsung eu40d5720. I keep getting a video codec not supported when I try to watch twitch streams. I did update my fmpegg file with the most recent one from the site you mentioned but still no twitch streams. Is there something more I can do?

my setup:
laptop: Asus n53Jq
windows 8.1
serviio 1.4.2
tv: samsung eu40d5720

Re: Twitch.tv/Justin.tv

awesome plugin!

I noticed a few things though.

All NA Twitch streamers lag no matter what:

Lirik (Source/4k) - DayZ
Hafu (Source/2k) - Hearthstone
Uknighted (Source/3k) - MGS4

while all EU/Asia twitch streams work FLAWLESSLY:

MaSsanSC (Source/2k) - Hearthstone
Tornis (Source/4k) - FTL: Faster Than Light
nl_Kripp (Source/2k) - Hearthstone

There is no way in hell that it's my PC/Router/Internet connection*, and Twitch works flawlessly otherwise, so it has to be the way the Plugin/Serviio connects to Twitch NA.

PC - i5-4670k @3.8
Serviio 1.4.2
Windows 7
Internet - 30 down/ 5 up
Router - Both wired+Less lag for NA, but not EU/Asia

Re: Twitch.tv/Justin.tv

that IS weird. have you done extensive tests to reproduce this; i.e. try different times of day, try multiple times on at least these, if not more streams to verify?

twitch does use geolocation to select a cdn server (IP), but you should get one from more or less the same location for any stream at the same point in time. since the plugin itself does the api lookup, there should be no difference between NA or EU/rest STREAMERS, like, at all.

Tried time of day. Nothing.
Tried refreshing multiple times. Nothing.
Tried different resolutions. Nothing. (only Source works I think.)

I did, however, notice that TrumpSC (NA Hearthstone), was not lagging at all, but that was because his stream only needed 1300k bitrate. Very weird.

I'll try downgrading Serviio tomorrow and see what's up, but it's very odd that only EU/Asia is working properly.

'Cause you'd think streamers like Kripp would lag because of his high view count, but Uknighted's (NA) 1k-ish viewers lagged way harder than the Kripp's (EU) 15k+ stream.

Re: Twitch.tv/Justin.tv

i don't think viewer count makes a difference, it always seemed to me that the load is pretty much distributed evenly across all servers for all streams, so that a stream with 8 viewers comes from the same server, or one with similar latency/bandwidth properties, as one with five digit viewers.

i really can't think of any reason this would be happening, and haven't observed it personally.
