Why do you guys and galls use serviio?

I thought i would create a thread specifically to find out what why you mainly use serviio for and concentrate more of our efforts in those specific areas :D

Feel free to post comments below explaining what services you use most and why you use serviio over any other media server and what services you would like to be included in later releases. Post your likes and dislikes about serviio too!

Re: Why do you guys and galls use serviio?

For me: Watch the latest TV shows and movies. Got it synced with Sabnzbd for the perfect home media hub. I use the iPlayer and YouTube plugin the most.

Wife: Watches mainly iplayer, it loads much quicker than the native Sony iplayer app which doesn't play in HD. ITV and 4oD good favorites and she hoping for a 5 on demand

Children: Cbeebies on iplayer and YouTube nursery songs keeps them glued to the screen!

Preferred device: My Sony Bravia TV
Sony Bravia 2010 52NX803 - Sony PS3 - Xbox 360
Serviio running on QNAP NAS 639 Pro - 1.6 Intel Dual Core - 2GB RAM and QNAP NAS 121 - 2Ghz ARM Marvell - 1GB RAM
Console using ServiiDroid for Android, ServiiMetro and ServiiWP for Windows Phone and WebUI for iOS

I use it for the live stream function with my WDTV SMP. Works painfully slow but there's no other way of watching live streams that I know of with the WDTV SMP. Would be amazing if the slow load issue could be resolved.

I also use the live stream feature with WD ... the slow load is a real pain. It's a bug and really should be fixed!

I've been using it to stream content from my hard drive on Mac mini to various devices in my house. Google tv,ps3,x box, wii, other computers and laptops, and phones. I try to run a nerdy household

Re: Why do you guys and galls use serviio?

I use Serviio nearly 24/7 to stream media, mainly movies and shows from PC to Xbox360. I would do same with my music but waiting for 1.0 to support playlist and finds music better(always says there is no music but then I push play and it plays a song??).
Compared to WMP that I used before Serviio, Serviio updates list faster when new files added, more customization in the layout on the xbox dashboard is what I love. ie. last viewed, last added folders and now android support from my phone to change settings or refreshing library if needed without me getting off my ass is awesome.

Keep up the good work.

Re: Why do you guys and galls use serviio?

I use Serviio to stream hi-def movies and tv shows. I chose Serviio because it's the only DLNA software I've tried that plays everything I have. I can even disable transcoding. I use it with WDTV, a Samsung portable blu-ray player and with VLC on my laptop. I'll be getting an Android tablet very soon and hopefully it will work with that too.

Re: Why do you guys and galls use serviio?

Ive got Serviio installed on a older dual core laptop in the office, it has 4gb of ram

Ive got all my movies and TV shows attached on a 2TB HDD and use it to stream them all to my PS3, iPad (AirPlayer) and Samsung Galaxy S2 (MediaHouse)

It works with pretty much any video file i chuck at it and very rarely goes wrong!

Not used any of the additional plugins yet but may start to dive in to them. Would be nice if some could be developed for us folks that live in Australia as bbc iplayer and ITV player wont work here

Re: Why do you guys and galls use serviio?

I use Serviio to watch the videos from my android phone and from my wifes iphone on the big screen tv in the living room. We both have apps that automatically upload our phone videos to the cloud. My pc then automatically downloads them to folders that Serviio is configured to use. Voila, all phone videos on the TV ready to watch using either my ps3 or my LG ST600.

Re: Why do you guys and galls use serviio?

I use Serviio to ouput TV shows/Movies to my TV, it is combined with SABnzbd, Sickbeard & Couch Potato on my home server. My wife uses a PVR to record her shows as they are mostly on standard British TV channels and anything premium can be picked up using SickBeard.

I'm trying to get some LiveStreams working at the minute as there is a couple of programmes (FIA GT1 & DTM) which I cannot download and the Ad breaks on ESPN always seem to land right in the interesting parts like driver changes meaning I miss out crucial parts of the race. Luckily GT1 has a livestream channel on Ustream so hopefully for the next race I will have it all setup correctly through Serviio.
