Codecs

Hi there

So are the video formats and codecs provided by what is supported by Serviio and not the TV? or does both the TV and Serviio both have to support the format?

For example..
If my TV does not support MKV using the native TV Media player then will it still not play MKV files using Serviio through the DLNA server?

Regards

Re: Codecs

If the TV doesn't support it then Serviio will know that the TV doesn't support them (provided the profile for the TV is upto date etc..) and use ffmpeg (a video/audio converter included in Serviio's lib directory) to convert the video into a format that the tv does support.
