Serviio Console and Bitdefender Game Mode

Hi All,

I have used Serviio successfully for some time. I recently changed my security software to Bitdefender Internet Security 2015. On the whole, there are no problems.

However, whenever the Serviio Console runs Bitdefender detects that it is a 'Game' and goes into its silent 'Game Mode'. If I stop the Serviio Console then everything is fine. The Serviio Service is running and is accessible.

So, my question is, is it necessary to run the Serviio Console all the time? Is there anything it does that requires it to always be running in the background?

Thanks.

No.
It is only used for configuring the Server. You can leave it off at all other times.

I don't use Bitdefender but I thought Game Mode was only activated for full screen apps? Strange. You may want to see if there are any rules you can set to ignore Serviio Console.

Re: Serviio Console and Bitdefender Game Mode

Thanks for the reply mate.

I have seen Bitdefender go into its special 'modes' for non-fullscreen applications. I wonder if it is detecting DirectX access or something in the case of 'Game Mode'. Turns out that I can specify programs to include in 'Game Mode', but sadly no exclusions.

Anyway, I'm happy enough to only run the Console when I need to.

Cheers.
