[SOLVED] Private Folders in Serviio

I have a NAS server and added its public/music, public/video and public/pictures folders. They all work fine. But I also want to add my user folder on NAS. Because it is accessable via my NAS-User Account, Serviio is not able to scan it. So, is it possible to add my NAS-User Account to serviio and grant serviio access to my private folder under NAS? Or any other method to add private folders to Serviio?

Re: Private Folders in Serviio

Is this your own built NAS or something off the shelf.

If it was something you put together, simply add the user that you run serviio under to your users group. If it is off the shelf, then please supply some more info first e.g. make/model/do you have full access to it etc..

I have WD MyBook II.
Serviio runs on my Windows 7 PC, not on NAS. So I need to doo this on my Win-7 PC. And I do not know how.
There is no problem with public folders, but I also want to add my NAS-User Folder (which is accessible via my NAS-User Password). When I add it (just like I did with public folders), serviio does not scan my private folder because (I think) it cannot know my user name and password for NAS.

Ok. Type services in the start menu, then find serviio, right click, properties, logon, and fill in your nas account details under 'this account'

Re: Private Folders in Serviio

Should I use //NAS/MyUsername format or NAS IP? Or just only my user name?
Also (extra info) browse-locations options (next to this account section) only show me my Win7-PC. I hoped to find there my other network locations but there is none.
Thanks for your helps by the way...

P.S. Can also Windows Credential Manager be used for permitting access for serviio?

Re: Private Folders in Serviio

Run the service under your local account, and yes use credential manager to add your nas account if it is different.

Re: Private Folders in Serviio

Ok Success!
First I have created My NAS username and password under Windows Credential Manager (because my Win7 password is different from my NAS)
Secondly, I have modified serviio service to log on as my Win7 Local account and password.
Thirdly, I have added my private folder in serviio console.
And after a pc-restart serviio has manage to scan my password protected private folder on NAS.
Thanks for roadmap and help.

Re: Private Folders in Serviio

Yes that is how you have to do it if your usernames and passwords don't match up. Can you mark this as solved please by putting [Solved] at the start of the thread title in the first post.
