A few transcoding questions

Just a few questions from someone getting ready to attempt building their own profile that makes everything work on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

- Is it possible to tell the computer to transcode everything that isn't a certain format/container? (Ie; MP4s encoded with h264)
- Is it possible to convert 5.1 audio to 2 channel all the time, no matter the original container and format?
- Is it possible to check what name the PlayStation 4 gives on connection so that I can set it to autodetect (like the default PS3 profile does)?

Yes, but you will have to list all the containers / codecs that will trigger transcoding. Look at the Matches element and some existing profiles.

Yes, Match on container * and aMultichannel set to true, the you can also use forceStereo in the transcoding Video element.

Enable detailed logging and see what is printed there when the PS4 is detected / connected to.
