"AMD Turion II Processor Model Neo" enough for mkv 1080p?

Hi,
i would like to use serviio to steam HD mkv files to my Sony kdl40hx705 TV.
As the TV doesn´t support mkv natively, serviio will need to transconde.

I would like to use a PC using a "AMD Turion II Processor Model Neo" processor.
Could anyone confirm or decline that the processor will be good enough?

Thanks.

yer you should be fine although HD movies may be abit laggy if alot of transcoding is going on.

For that TV you would only be remuxing the video in an mkv file (not re-encoding it) and re-encoding the audio to AC3 if it's not in that format already. Even a basic NAS system with an ARM CPU can do this, so you'll be fine with that PC.

Serviio 2.1 package for Synology NAS - with limited hardware transcoding support!

Just a follow up - how does this box perform for you ?? Was considering getting a ML310 G5, but I think that might be overkill if the N40L does the trick...

Heck, I tried Serviio on a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook, and it works (though no transcoding of HD..do not know if little Atom is up to the task)

Re: "AMD Turion II Processor Model Neo" enough for mkv 1080p

I have an N36L with only 5GB RAM and it copes fine. The newer and faster N40 should be similarly no problem. I'd just highly recommend a RAM bump. I know the new N40 comes with 2GB as standard, but mine only came with 1GB and the speed increase going from that to 5GB was substantial.
