Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV

Hey all,

Has anyone got a NSZ-GS7 from Sony yet with Google TV? Is it compatible or is an app like plex required?

Sorry for delay...
If NSZ-GS7 is DLNA compliant, then serviio should support it, we need maximum information about tis media.
1 - http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=device_sf
2 - Try with generic profile and report files that play and files that failed.

I got my new Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV today and its a lot faster than the Logitech revue. But i tried their media player and it told me that it couldn't find a upnp/dlna device and to plug in a media stick to listen to music. So i found this article and thought i would help out the best i could.. Here is a screen shot of the device spy. As you can see i have a server running both serviio and plex and directv in the house. Plex i can use the plex app with, but I paid for serviio, this program has been the back bone of my media needs for a very long time now. (that is why i supported you all and paid for the app)

you will notice the invocation error on the bottom of the invoke screen........ if there is anything else i can do let me know.. I will be a Guinea pig :)

thanks

According to This :
http://www.sony.co.uk/product/google-tv ... ations#tab
AVC-HD (Blu-ray, DVD, CD, USB, DLNA) is NOT supported.
DLNA direct PC file access (Video, Audio, Photo) : only for PHOTO
DLNA (DMP/DMR) : YES (Firmware update)

So, Sony says it works but I am trying my hardest to find where. I am not having luck with Sony's media player. I have used a program called aVia . It worked but the layout sucks. And Plex is horrible at rendering the video. I am a fan of serviio's style. But it seems that we are not able to find an answer to this?? Well I guess i am going to box the Sony NSZ-GS7 player back up and return for a refund before its to late, and go back to the ever slow but trusty Logitech revue.
And hope that some day Serviio can find an answer.

Re: Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV

I'm currently working on experimental support for ServiiGo for Google TV. I have a Sony NSZ-GS7 and although the layouts and navigation still needs quite a bit of work, I've got video playback working quite nicely using a built in video player. Contact me if you have one of these or some other Google TV device as I need help testing and refining the profile.

Re: Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV

i also am running into the same issue. Don't get me wrong this device is great and all but lacking the ability to work with my Serviio server which is the backbone of my home entertainment may very well have it return back to the store. Dose any one know of any media player apps that can talk to Serviio like a marriage made in heaven?

Re: Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV

I have the new Xperia Tablet S and having played with NSZ-GS7 in my local Sony store, I think the media apps are similar and seem very limited in what they can play even though they can see Serviio over the network.

If you can install Skifta and MX Player on the NSZ-GS7 then this should allow you to stream to the unit with the generic DLNA profile.

Im moving away from Windows Media Center and have only recently found serviio. If a custom profile for this device is possibly in development that will allow playback in the native Sony media app, ill definitely be ordering one.

We can help you to create this profile.
- First use generic profile and list files that are not supported in native format.
- Use the Intel Tool to list the supported format of your device : http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=device_sf

Re: Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV

Hi , i have been using Google TV Blu-ray player NSZ-GT1 for a while now. Recently, I installed Serviio on my Window 7 PC and it works great for local content. The player I use on my Google TV is GTVBox Video Player which is now called ViMu Player. I paid for this app and it is well worth the price. The player will not only use DLNA but also other Windows file shared folders like SMB. It also has many video formats available. Check out http://www.vimuplayer.com/docs/

One issue I am still working on is streaming Hulu with RRS feeds from Serviio server onto my Sony Google TV NSZ-GT1. It seems to start and then stop part way through. If anyone has a solution for this I would be much appreciated. I am using the Hulu plugin.
