You have misunderstood me...
I mean:
If you see a MPEG2 rectangle, that means that the stream is transcoded to mpeg2 (probably with subtitle burned into video stream by mencoder).
If stream was delivered in native format with srt external, you should see DIVX.

OK, now what is the solution to have the subtitles in Serviio ?

From my point of view:
- Wait for ffmpeg dev to implement subtitle burning, then serviio will implement it.
or
- Manually transcode your file to burn sub with another tool.
