Cannot connect to the server, it doesn't seem to be runnig..

Hello,

I am having issues when opening the app on Mac, this happens immediately after the start and there’s no way around it. Please see the attached screenshot. This happens in both legacy and the latest versions, it just won’t open. Restarts of the app or the computer don’t help. Can you please advise on how to troubleshoot this?

Cheers

Re: Cannot connect to the server, it doesn't seem to be runn

Have you attempted to use the web interface instead of the console app? On the computer running Serviio, just try localhost:23423/console and see if it opens. If it does, then Serviio is running. Many people have issues with the console app but can use the web version without any issues.

If the web console doesn't work, then open the Serviio log and look for error messages. The log is located within the file structure you installed Serviio to in the Logs folder.

I also have this problem. The installer says all has been correctly completed BUT only the console is actually present.
The server files in OSX mavericks V9 - Library have not been put in place.
Maybe its the version of OSX but pre-requisite is OSX V8.
I would really like to try serviio so if you have any ideas then please let me know.

This has been unsolved since the early sequoia days. Maybe something in updating to sequoia had some permission change, no one knows...

Nothing seemingly in the logs so nothing much could be done. Well there was something about derby but the derby log looks clean... Anyway, just waiting to see if 2.5 would work in the current macos.

Attaching my latest attempt if needed, but don't think there's anything there...

Based on what that log shows, Serviio should be running. I'd first check if the computer is using the IP address that is listed in the Serviio log (I think it was 192.168.0.60, but I've closed the file and going on memory). My next question is if you're trying to use the Serviio console that is installed with Serviio, or using the web interface (http://localhost:23423/console from the computer running Serviio, otherwise using the computer name or IP address in place of localhost). Many times I've had the console app not work but the web interface works fine. I stopped even trying the console app before Serviio reached version 1.0.

IP Addy is correct. IP/computer name/localhost, all work for access for web app. No difference in console desktop application or console web app. Both fail with same can't connect to server message.

Thank you for that confirmation. From what I can see, Serviio is running normally on your computer. All I can think of is some sort of firewall setting that is blocking access, something outside of Serviio's control. Are you using a VPN by any chance? Those will block it as well.
