Live stream status feedback

Hello,

I've been using Serviio for a month or so and I must say it's excellent and has increased the functionality of my wdtv streaming media player a great deal, so thank you to the developers for making it and releasing it.

I have an idea/suggestion and that is that when viewing live streams would it be possible to have serviio detect when a stream has dropped mid-connection and then encode a message such as "the video stream you were viewing has been interupted, please re-connect" and continue outputting this as a video stream, so that the device does not just blank out? I hope that makes sense.. I ask for this because it seems that every time I watch a live stream and it drops out (often due to a busy server) my wdtv crashes, as if it doesn't know how to cope with the loss. If a feature like this could be added as an option that would be cool.

Thanks

Re: Live stream status feedback

That would be awesome. At the moment, if your stream is in a directory full of them it skips to the next stream on a hiccough. I would much rather get a message on screen without dropping out or skipping to the next one.

+1. The player generated error messages might not really convey what is going on for Serviio. I previously mentioned including video files of some error messages, but that would increase the size of the download package. Possibly one could link to online video error messages e.g. on youtube, or some online file locker?
Using Serviio on Debian "Wheezy" with Xbox 360, Sony BDP-S370 & Panasonic E6.
