[SOLVED] Sony SMP-N100 - Cannot Start Server
My Serviio installation is giving me fits, hoping someone can help me figure out why...
I'm running Serviio v 0.6.2 on Windows XP SP3 and streaming video to a Sony Media Player (SMP-N100) which is connected to an old-style 4:3 TV. Both the PC running Serviio and the media player are connected to the same router via a wired connection. The selected Serviio profile for the media player is "Sony BD Player / SMP" although using any of the Sony profiles seems to produce the same issues. My media (video) files are in AVI format.
None of the issues below generate any entries in the Serviio log.
1) When connecting to Serviio from the media player, the media player displays a generic unconnected icon for the Serviio server. Clicking into the server reports "Server Startup - The server is currently starting up," but the Serviio process is running on the PC and the Serviio console reports that the server is running. Why would the SMP report that the server is starting up when the server is running? Does initiating a connection to Serviio spawn a new process (Server Startup) for the connection?
2) Once the server has "Started," I often get a "Cannot Find Server" message on the media player upon trying to connect to it. Attempting to reconnect again reports that the server is starting.
3) Frequently, after a "Server Startup" attempt, the media player reports that the server cannot be started.
4) A subsequent connection attempt MAY be successful with the media player reporting that the server has connected, but attempting to navigate to my Serviio content will, as often as not, result in a "Cannot Find Server" message, and I'm back to square one. If I haven't successfully connected to my content by this point, I usually have to restart the PC running Serviio before I can connect (usually by going through some sequence of the above issues)
5) Once I manage to begin playing my content on the SMP, playback frequently stalls/freezes after several minues of streaming. I can usually hit the rewind button to back the video up a few frames and get it to resume playback, but every 10th or so freeze results in my being unable to resume playback and I have to return to the SMP menu (and to step 1 of this issues list) and attempt to re-establish a connection to Serviio.
I realize there are a lot of issues in this post, but am hoping someone can suggest a diagnostic procedure which might lead me to discover the causes of this behavior.
