Hello. I am planning to run DLNA server on my HTPC. I see Serviio uses Java which is heavy work for the CPU. I am interested how it makes the transcoding - in Java or natively and is there load on CPU when idle? I will run it on AMD E-350
Re: Serviio/Java CPU load
As i understand it java is used solely for the serviio program and ffmpeg is what does the transcoding why your cpu is so high because of java is a mystery im sure zip maybe able to help you further though

Re: Serviio/Java CPU load
people use it on NAs devices, so CPU is not a problem, unless you transcode (but that is done natively via ffmpeg)

Re: Serviio/Java CPU load
@zip - Currently my Galaxy S3 is fast than my NAS CPU and mobile CPU getting even faster. Since Android is built on Java.
Are there any plans to make Serviio run/port on Android?
Would be cool to take Serviio with me and view content at friends or work TV
