Ubuntu Server 12.04 update to Serviio 1.x

Hi,
i am running Serviio on Ubuntu 12.04 Server (64bit) that is used as a Mediaserver. Version 0.6.2 running without any problems. Now i try to update to 1.0/1.0.1, and have some problems.
- When setup a fresh 1.x with empty database, i am not able to add shared folders or online sources.
- When copy 0.6.2 database into the new version, before 1 start, the shared folder appears, but also not able to add other. The log shows:

  Code:
---- Debugging information ----
message             : Zero length string
cause-exception     : java.lang.NumberFormatException
cause-message       : Zero length string
class               : java.lang.Long
required-type       : java.lang.Long
converter-type      : com.thoughtworks.xstream.converters.SingleValueConverterWrapper
wrapped-converter   : com.thoughtworks.xstream.converters.basic.LongConverter
path                : /repository/sharedFolders/sharedFolder/accessGroupIds/id
class[1]            : java.util.LinkedHashSet
converter-type[1]   : com.thoughtworks.xstream.converters.collections.CollectionConverter
class[2]            : org.serviio.ui.representation.SharedFolder
converter-type[2]   : com.thoughtworks.xstream.converters.reflection.ReflectionConverter
class[3]            : java.util.ArrayList
class[4]            : org.serviio.ui.representation.RepositoryRepresentation
version             : null
-------------------------------

Only when i used my android pad i can add folder and online content.

- automatic database refresh is not carry out, neither "forced refresh", nothing shown up in the log file. After a few seconds, a Java Sript error "Time out" is shown.
The signal for "Checking Additions" allways on (green), as serviio can not complete the scan.
After reboot the server the library is scanned and new files are added.

As Ubunt used open-jdk as default, i have installed Oracle Java Version 7, but same issue as before.
If i go back to 0.6.2, Serviio is running as it should.
For the attached log files, the server is restarted, add a folder and make a forced refresh. In 1.0.1 log file the library content part is removed :-).
Any hint to get this running?
Thank you.

Do you update ffmpeg with latest git version or this one : http://www.serviio.org/download with good ffmpeg compilation config ?

Re: Ubuntu Server 12.04 update to Serviio 1.x

Are you using the Serviio Console or one of the web UIs?

I am using PHP Web IU (v1.2a via apache2), from Kubuntu 12.04.
For browsing i use Rekonq (1.1), Iron (21.0.1200.0 (151411)) or Chromium (21.0.1180.89 Ubuntu 12.04 (154005)).
The network is IPv4 with static IP's. Server has 2 Nic's, that a running in bound mode (one IPI).

As the server get very noisy, i take a closer look at him. Under htop, i see serviio is using 100% cpu, see attached screen shot.
After going back to 0.6.2 cpu usage is at 9%.

It looks like a bug in the WebUI. Post in their topic.

that's odd. you should only have one instance of java process for the serviio but you could have multiple instances of ffmpeg processes. Is there a cron job running that starts java manually after so often?

Hi NPuser,
i think that depends on the different layout in top and htop. If you press H (show threads on/off) in top you will also see multiple instances of java.
Regardless of that, i have looked for cron jobs, but there were no jobs started by cron.
I think i will try an other iu for control serviio, as zip recommended, to exclude the possibility, PHP-Web IU is causing the input problem. Maybe that also causes the cpu load. Anyway, if i shut down the browser running PHP-Web IU, nothing changed in cpu load
Thank you for support.

OK, i found the problem that causes the cpu load in v1.0.1. After i added the path for ffmpeg executable, in my case /usr/local/bin, cpu load is back to normal.
Also force refresh is working now. Only adding of shared folders in PHP-Web-IU is not possible. When adding by serviio console, it worked. It seems to be a problem of the PHP-Web-IU.

Update:
The problem still occures. Unfortunatly i have mistype the path in serviio.sh, therefore ffmpeg is not in use. After correction of the path, one child process of java is up to 100% of cpu load. :(
