Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

For NASA HD Media Channel now showing robot basketball:
  Code:
rtmp://flash84.ustream.tv:1935/ustreamVideo/10414700/ playpath=streams/live swfUrl=http://static-cdn1.ustream.tv/swf/live/viewer.rsl:96.swf swfVfy=1 live=1

It stuttered for about 1 minute at the beginning, but now it's smooth video and audio with the Sony SMP-N100 info saying 7-8 Mbps. When it shows just text on the screen, it was showing about 1-2 Mbps. Now it's showing International Space Station streaming at about 4-6 Mbps.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Sorry, I did not really have time to help you, but it seems you make a good job.

I tested this online stream https://sites.google.com/site/serviiors ... annels.rss link with my
- SMP-N100
- BDP-S373
--> result pink images then devices reboot.

I try your modification and know seems good for the two devices !!
Good.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

As far as the stuttering problem on some streams, I was just reading on another thread on here where a user suggested turning off the "Keep library automatically updated" to eliminate the problem. Not sure if this will help.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Serviio-Buddy - good find and good fix. Thank you. :)

Confirmed -This patch also worked for bdp-bx57 (sony bluray - US) as well.

I do have stuttering and choppy issue but i can live with that. I am not sure if this thread http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5625 has any lead to a fix for this choppy issue.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Thanks. Yes, it should work on most of the newer Sony BD / SMP models.

The thread you referred to has some clues as to what is causing this stuttering as it may have something to do with native rendering or hardware issues with the PC Serviio is running on.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Hi serviio-buddy. I've been busy away from this stuff for quite a while so I've only just had a proper look at your live stream profile change. It's more of a workaround than a true fix, since your modification is transcoding all H.264 content in Flash Video containers (which will catch the majority of live-streamed content). And for Serviio users running on NAS realtime video transcoding is typically impossible, even using MPEG2. I guess it just so happens that the few live streams I have tried on my BDP (successfully) must have been streaming in M2TS. I'll check that.

The SMP/BD certainly ought to play the H.264 contained within these FLV streams, so there must be some reason why remuxing it to M2TS (as the default profile specifies) using FFmpeg is not quite working properly. My suspicion is that it's something along the lines of the mp4toannexb bitstream filter we have to use when remuxing H.264 in MP4 to M2TS. Some background info on Annex B here and the precise difference between the media subtypes of AVC1 and H264 (which are often conflated):

I'll do some research on that when I have some time, perhaps tomorrow. There's got to be a way round this...

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Hmm. I can see from your previous detailed log output that the mp4toannexb option is already being used:
  Code:
ffmpeg.exe -i "rtmp://s7.webport.tv/live/z050227.stream pageUrl=http://www.tvsector.com/ swfVfy=0 live=1" -y -async 1 -vcodec copy -vbsf h264_mp4toannexb -copyts -acodec ac3 -ab 384k -ac 2 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -sn -f mpegts

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

@patters - Before serviio-buddy's work around, i was only able to get online streams to work by adding maxVBitrate="1000" within online transcoding section of my renderer's profile. With that Video Bit rate, the picture quality was really bad but at least it did not cause Sony BDP-bx57 to crash (pink screen). I am not sure if this info will give you any clues as to what is going on.

  Code:
<OnlineTranscoding>
         <Video targetContainer="mpeg" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384" forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="rtp"/>
            <Matches container="rtsp"/>
            <Matches container="applehttp"/>
         </Video>
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" aBitrate="192" maxVBitrate="1000">
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" profile="baseline" ftypNotIn="isom"/>
            <Matches container="flv" vCodec="h264" />
       </Video>
         <Video targetContainer="mpeg" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384">
            <Matches container="asf"/> <!-- to support mms:// streams -->
         </Video>
         <Audio targetContainer="mp3" aBitrate="384" forceInheritance="true">
            <Matches container="flv"/>
            <Matches container="asf"/>
         </Audio>
      </OnlineTranscoding>

I still remember a strange behavior exhibited by my bdp-bx57, when i set the maxVBrate to between 1100 to 2000 - the unit locked up with a red screen, between 2000 to 10000 - a purple screen, from 10000 upto 17000 - a pink screen.

Once i got serviio-buddy's work around which worked for me, i never looked back since.

thanks

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Patters, thanks for looking into this. The pink screen syndrome was usually occurring on M2TS live streams. The MPEG live streams always played. Whene I commented out the line in the Sony BD /SMP profile (as shown in a previous post), it started playing the M2TS live streams also.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

I have a similar problem playing files wirelessly. I thought the problem was the bitrate over the wireless network. It might be the smp-n100 can't handle that fast a stream. I changed the profile to always re-encoding the mkv files and down grade the video stream bit rate and set it to 720p. viewtopic.php?t=6591&p=52709#p52709

hope it helps
