Re: ffmpeg high cpu usage

When I stream live video feeds (using rtmp and the Livefeeds plugin) to my Sony Bravia TV (2011) transcoding continues after I have stopped watching the video in my TV. The only way to free the CPU is to shut Serviio down. (In the Serviio.log I have started and stopped Sky News.) Is this how it should work?

Re: ffmpeg high cpu usage

Yes because there is no way for serviio to know you have stopped watching it.

Re: ffmpeg high cpu usage

In case of a live stream it should stop the FFMpeg process after 1 minute of inactivity.

Re: ffmpeg high cpu usage

That's true, the FFMpeg process stops but the high CPU usage just goes on and on. The CPU usage won't go down to normal until Serviio is shut down.

Re: ffmpeg high cpu usage

is there anyway to set serviio to kill the transocde after someone stops watching the stream?

When more than 4 people are watching streams / switching between programs my server is completely maxed out.
If not is there anyway to add this? Mostly on web streams.

Edit: Just to add I'm talking about files stored on the server, not live streams from the pluggins

ffmpeg high cpu usage

It happens when I switch from video to video. Ffmpeg does not get a chance to finish the first video before the start of the second video.

Re: ffmpeg high cpu usage

Sorry for the trouble. I have come to the conclusion that the high cpu usage is caused by faulty plugin coding. I think you should review these plugins before they are posted.

Have you let the author of the plugin know?
Using Serviio on Debian "Wheezy" with Xbox 360, Sony BDP-S370 & Panasonic E6.
