Sony KDL-55HX925 Lockup/Reboot

I've got a Sony KDL-55HX925 connected to a home network (CAT6 wired, Cisco Switch) and Serviio latest version on the media PC downstairs.

Since purchasing the TV I have been plagued with a specific issue being; when playing video (dlna) off the media library the first video file that I play works fine (playback is perfect), however often when I then navigate to a second file the TV will "lockup". Busy icon wheel spins on top right, TV sits there for 20-30 seconds and then eventually reboots. This isn't always but it is often (perhaps 70% of the time).

I've tried different firmware and versions of the DLNA server software, same issue. I confirm I've also tried different hardware (network switch and media server hardware).

Sony openned a case and replaced the main board (twice) - interestingly the first time it seemed to improve then after they replaced it again (due to other issues) it's back just like when purchased.

Interestingly if I exit the video play back screens (using Home button) and re-enter the video menu for the DLNA it does not lockup (only when jumping to a second video file). The specific files being called for playback don't seem to influence the issue.

Has anyone had this issue at all? I'm wondering if it is perhaps the Profile on the server?

One point, in playing with the issue if I have a ripped DVD (VOB files) - VOB files don't seem to cause any problems, it's all other media files (AVI, MKV etc) - Serviio is transcoding btw.

Woaw, you replace twice the main board of your sony device ?? (just for curiosity, what are the issues?)

Yes, we openned a case with Sony regards to the lockup - essentially we complained that their TV would lockup "most of the time" when playing the second media via (via DLNA). We also had an occassional situation where instead of rebooting the TV would stay off and the red LED would blink 8 times.

Sony suggested they couldn't replicate it (we even tried using the PS3media server to see - same issue).

the first board they replaced seemed better but it said it was a KDL-55HX825 (model below), Sony couldn't change the model code so they replaced the board again (now says it's the right model). Oddly the problem still exists.

I guess what I'm trying to determine is if it is just a fundamental Sony TV issue (ie their DLNA video playback is buggy) or if I've got a dud TV.

My understanding is that it shouldn't matter what video file I play (even if it needs transcoding) as the media server will transcode to deliver the TV something it can handle. What is really odd is that the TV will play (via Serviio/transcode) anything I call on first up, and then the second file I call on will generally cause the lockup/reboot. After the reboot I can re-enter the video menu and choose any file (even the file that I ran second last attempt that caused the lockup) - will play fine but alas the second random file I choose to play, bam, gone again. really frustrating!

I know this might be a long show with your last post more than a few months ago, but I'm wondering if you ever found a solution to this problem?

I am have exactly the same problem - the TV is rebooting when it rolls onto the second video. The only exception is that my Bravia is connected wirelessly. So I'm wondering/hoping you may have found a solution?
