video jukebox?

Given an assortment of dvds of concerts, where songs are normally marked as chapters and individually playable from the dvd menus, is there any reasonable way to get serviio to deliver the effect of a video jukebox with either a random mix of songs or an ordered playlist? And by reasonable, I mean something that doesn't involve manually editing the video contents.

Have already asked for that, but it didn't seem to gain any traction :| Would really like to do the same, random kids programs for example.

Re: video jukebox?

If the chapters/songs were separate files, then you would be able to use a playlist in Serviio. I haven't seen a way to be able to pluck out certain chapters of a dvd though.

For example, I've used both ways as mentioned in this thread. I have multiple cartoons and used https://sites.google.com/site/ourmediamanager/ to create different playlist of those videos for my kids. I also used it to create a playlist of individual songs/concerts that I have.

But as mentioned, I can only see how to do it with individual files and not grabbing specific pieces from a file.

Re: video jukebox?

Agree with using playlists, but it will depend on the media player for continuous playback. My Sony players will play the entire playlist top to bottom. It does not return to the top and start over. My Panasonic TV will play the same video over and over, but after the initial playback it is in a little preview window in the corner of the screen. Haven't seen any menu options that support continuous playback, but then again haven't really looked too hard.

Re: video jukebox?

Agreed.. my PS3 does the playlist nicely with continuous play as well as keeps things in the order I specify. Xbox360 on the other hand, will play only one at a time and it also keeps rearranging the titles alphabetically
