Windows DLNA DMC (Controller) Software Suggestions?

Hello,

I'm having trouble finding a Windows program that allows me to list the content available on my various DLNA servers and then choose to play a file on a particular renderer. To be specific, I'd like use my laptop to choose a file in the library of the DLNA server on my desktop PC and request that the server play this file on my DLNA enabled TV.

Does anyone know of such a piece of software? I would be happy if the program performed just this task, but if there are tools that do further things too I'd be happy to hear what those things are.

Thanks,
Chris.

Re: Windows DLNA DMC (Controller) Software Suggestions?

Hi Chris,
Not so sure you have found this software you were looking for.
I myself have all my MP3 music on my main computer, and have a DLNA Compatible A/V Receiver on my (LAN), I can access my MP3 files and play them from my A/V Receiver. However I do enjoy sitting at my PC and picking and playing songs to listen too, and this also requires a DMC. The difference from what I have and what you have sounds like your media files are stored on a 3rd unit considered your storage device. I have a hard time believing this software is so hard to find, but indeed it is, WMP (Windows Media Player) does allow me to "Play To" an external device such as my A/V Receiver. The A/V Receiver has to be turned on, then I can right click on the song and choose "Play To" my A/V Receiver. So this is virtually what I was looking for however the player that opens up is a very bare bones player, not even a shuffle option on it. I also have a Samsung Blu-Ray player on my (LAN) that you use an application called "AllShare" on your PC, it also has a media player within the application that does allow you to play to an external device, this also works on my A/V Receiver. I am still on the search for a different MP3 player or Media Player that will do this also. But if nothing else, you may want to check it out.

Good Luck Chris

-Steve
