Windows 8 nightmares
I've used Serviio for some time on XP (marvelously) and even on VISTA (but not very well). Havig migrated to Windows 8 and a dedicated media server, it's been a nightmare. The sony (EX71) tv can reports serviio as a server but cannot "see" serviio nor access any media files or see any. Three re-installations of JAVA and serviio eventually made serviio work (there were definitely problems with JAVA), then 3 days ago - back to same problem. Re-installtions failed but the XP service still worked, even on an overburdened elderly PC. Tried the administrator setup on Windows 8 and logged in as administrator but no sign of serviio although it WAS running as a service and sony denied its existence. THEN, miraculously, 2 hours after giving up for the night - serviio is back on Sony TV, through the Windows 8 administrator user although the task bar shows no sign of serviio. What is going on? Serviio is wonderful but with Windows 8 is becoming frustrating.
