UE40F6400 thumbnails

I have installed the windows version of Serviio and I can manually generate thumbnails for MT2TS files created by my Canon HD camcorder. These appear on the TV. I have installed Serviio on my Raspberry Pi and the media plays fine. How can I generate the thumbnails on the PI as I did on the windows version. I have tried using ffmpeg on windows to create thumbnails and copying them to the folders on the PI but I cannot get them to appear on the TV. Once I find a way to do this I can write a script to populate the thumbnails.

Also there appears to be an issue with the TV in that if you change the search order the media cannot be played and because you are returned to the main menu you cannot change it back and the TV remembers it forever, does anyone know how to reset the DLNA device memory on the TV? The media still play from all contents.

Thanks

Re: UE40F6400 thumbnails

I have setup remote console and there is no option to create thumbnail from file. I have lots of videos so I would like to write a script to create the thumbnails.

Re: UE40F6400 thumbnails

I have compiled ffmpeg locally on the PI and removed the installed package, added the new version to the path. I have enabled VNC and run the GUI console on the PI via VNC when I brows the video content using the link from the remote tab in the console I can see all the thumbnails for the images.
Unfortunately the images are still not appearing on the TV, I know the TV can display the images as I have seen them when I installed the windows version.
Can anyone help with this?
Regards
Ian

Re: UE40F6400 thumbnails

I must own up to a mistake in my first post, It was Mezzmo that I was using when I saw the thumbnails on the TV not Serviio.

My Question is why don't they work via Serviio the thumbnails are being generated as I can see them in the media browser, Is there anything I can do to help. I'll try anything you like as my camcorder files have date stamp names that are useless for searching. I noticed there is no thumbnail entry in the Samsung profile, is there a possibility that changing this may help. Any Chance of a copy of the DLNA Network Device Interoperability Guidelines?

Thanks
Ian

I'm looking into it. As far as I can tell, Samsung broke it on their end.

It can't be broke because Mezzmo can do it, Is there anything I can do, log files etc to help?

I have logs from other user.

Mezzmo may have already implemented the hack, but from what I saw in the logs (and have to confirm that it's the real issue), Serviio serves thumbnails in the way the DLNA spec requires, but the F series ignores it and is instead looking for images with a 'small jpeg' profile.

That sound right, I had a look with wire shark and I saw a reference to GET JPEG_SM would you like me to send you the capture trace?

Re: UE40F6400 thumbnails

I had the same problem (no video thumbnails at all) with my Samsung UE32F6400 and solved it by activating this profile:

Now I have thumbmails ;)

Re: UE40F6400 thumbnails

I'm new to this forum (as well as a new Serviio user) and I am glad that the forums appear to be active! I ran into the same issue of no thumbnails on mu Samsung smart tv (F series). Using the E/F profile did resolve the missing thumbnail issue, but a side effect of this is that the thumbnail images a squished... the thumbnails are cover art that retails the case aspect ratio not the square ratio that appears on the Samsung screen. Is this an issue with the tv and it's interface or is it something that can be addressed in serviio?

Thanks in advance!

Re: UE40F6400 thumbnails

The TV expects square images, as served by their own server. So it's an issue with the TV.

Re: UE40F6400 thumbnails

Have just bought the UE46F6400. Have read the topic and would like to know do you have a solution for the not appearing thumbnails for video files problem. ToniVC-s solution does not help.
Thank you,
