Different presentation of metadata

Hello Petr,

At first I have to admit that the 0.5 release of Serviio is great! It solved many things the hardware doesn't solve gracefully! ;)

However I found one part where there is a little problem for me. I am using a Freecom MusicPAL to play my music collection through Serviio.
The fastest way to browse the music for me has always been following the directory structure which I created as follows:

\\server\Music\Full CD\Artist\Album\Artist - Track.mp3

However when browsing using the folders options the track titles appear in the various folders as follows:

01 - James Blunt - Stay The Night.mp3

When playing the song the following is shown on the screen:

Artist : James Blunt
Title : 01 James Blunt - Stay the Night.mp3

This happens using my Freecom MusicPal as well as my WDTV Live.

I think the title tag is taken from the archive title, which is fine when there is no ID3 tag or for browsing. In my case however all data is available. It therefore looks like a little mix up. Would it be possible to change the track presentation while playing the song? Or even better have a user selectable option to disable the change from ticket #138 to the previous setting.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Different presentation of metadata

the Folders category is just that, kind of raw file serving. You can create a feature request for a better browsing categories based on ID3 tags to leverage the ways you guys like to play your music

Thanks for the feedback, I have just logged a ticket #259 with the request.

Re: Different presentation of metadata

Hello,
I have noticed quite the same problem: songtitle id3-tag is not displayed (with me its for wdtv live and the grundig wlan-radio) but instead the filename.

Additionally i've noticed recently that the tag cannot be the problem. Because if i use not the mediaserver but instead the shared folder the songtitle is displayed correctly.

Re: Different presentation of metadata

Are you going through the Folders category or a different one? Folders will use the file name instead on the ID3 tag value.

Re: Different presentation of metadata

Yes i'm using the folders category. Within the Folder category i think should be that the filenames are listed. But if i start to play a song the title should be shown according to the ID3 tag (as the other attributes like album, interpret)

Re: Different presentation of metadata

It's the same value serviio sends. It is used for displaying in the browse menu and play view. The TV asks once for it and uses it for 2 different purposes. So no chance to differentiate.

Re: Different presentation of metadata

Hi, I found this old Question, because I have the same Problem.
I orderd my Music Archive in Folders, and so i use the Category Folders in the menu.
It would be great, if there is a chance to display the ID3 Tag Title instead of the File name.

In the Twonky Server it was realised like that. But I prefer serviio now!
Is there a Chance to change it?

Thanks for any answer.
Adam
