Folder view

I have attempted to search for another topic/solution on the board but was unable to narrow down the results enough to give me a viable solution.
If I missed this somewhere, I do apologize.

Here's what I'm using:
Samsung
32" Class (31.5" Diag.) LED 5300 Series Smart TV
Model Number: UN32EH5300FXZA

Serviio 1.3.1
running on Windows 7 x64
Serving media files from an external HDD (3Tb) formatted to NTSC

I used to have AllShare on the machine but I realized that it was completely unnecessary and uninstalled it.

The media files (well over 200) are mostly .mkv
The root of the external HDD is shared with full permissions on the network.
There are several levels of sub-folder hierarchy
1st lvl - Movies, TV, Misc Videos
2nd lvl - New, Comedies, Sci-fi, Drama, Action, etc.
3rd lvl - Superhero movies, Steven King, Kids Animated, Muppets, Alien movies, etc....

When using the TV, I can see the serviio service and select it and I get a screen where I am able to select the way I wish to see the contents organized, i.e. by Actor, genre, folder, newest, etc..(the categories in serviio)
When I select Folder view I can select the root folder, then the movie folder, then I get an error : The request cannot be completed, MEDIAPLAY will return to the menu (or something similar) and the TV exits to the Input selection screen.
If I select any other category (Actor, Title, etc) I can view the list of movies and watch them no problem, but it's a big messy list to go through.

I can also see the networked computer from the list of inputs and selecting it displays the folder hierarchies and files in exactly the same way that they are on the drive but I do not have the functionality of pause, Fast Forward, Rewind...

I've tried changing the options in the Presentation tab to reflect what I've read in another thread, but nothing changed.

Anyone have any ideas?
I swear it used to work properly before.
Should I put AllShare back on the computer?

Thanks!

Re: Folder view

This has been reported and looks like a bug. Will investigate.

Thank you!
I thought it might just be something simple I was missing or doing wrong.

Re: Folder view

I have the same series as you. How even get the TV to "see"serviio? Are you doing it through Allshare?

Re: Folder view

I originally had AllShare running and then I realized that I didn't need it and that it is inferior to Serviio in the options it provides for serving videos.
I just have Serviio running on the same wireless router that the TV is connected to.
It may take a few minutes for the TV to register it as an input after the TV is powered on.
Other than that, I didn't do anything special to get it to connect.

Re: Folder view

I still cannot work out what is causing this, so 1.4 will ship with this issue and hopefully after that I'll have more time to look into it.

Re: Folder view

Similar issue, but ONLY after I installed windows 8.1 on my server. Prior to this Serviio 1.4 was working beautifully on Windows 7 for all my Samsung TVs. Now both Samsung UA32ES6200 tvs will not allow access directly from "folder". In fact even disabling firewall and simply using windows share (as I have done on Windows 7) still does not fix the issue.

Zip I suspect its a windows 8.1 issue here...

Re: Folder view

Did anyone find the solution for this issue? Serviio 1.4.1.2, Win 7 x64, latest Java and the issue suddenly appeared.

If video files are in their own folders placed in a root partition I can't play them via "folders" folder anymore (mediaplay returns to main screen...). Movies, producers, etc. folders, work just fine. However, if the same files are not in a root partition but rather in a folder placed in root, playback works just fine.

Re: Folder view

Can you show the working and non-working file structure in an example 'drawing'?

Also, do you have everything enabled in the presentation settings or did you make some changes to it?

Re: Folder view

Under presentation settings I only disabled some video categories from showing and set number of items in dynamic categories to maximum 99. Did reinstall many items, even replaced the new version with several older ones, using the default settings, nothing helped.
Not much of a drawer but if, for instance movie is in D:\Amadeus\ I CAN'T play it via "folders" folder. If its in D:\Movies\Amadeus\ I CAN.
A while a go I noticed exactly the same behavior from Samsung link and its predecessor program AllShare. None of them could read from D:\Amadeus\. That is why actually I started using Serviio in the first place, because of its ability to read from root partition folders.

Can you try with the Generic profile?

Re: Folder view

Manage to solve the issue. Trick is to select "display content only" for folders category under presentation menu. Once I did that I could browse and play all the video content I have in root partition.
