Where do the Browsing Menu categories come from?

Where does Serviio find the following Browser Menu Categories' contents? Please describe per Item!!

Albums
Artists
Album Artists
Genres
Composers
Titles

My media files are consistently FLAC format, but please answer for other tagged formats as well.

My reason for asking is that I'm just about to give up on using Serviio as a media server for music; in a lot of cases I end up choosing between the "Beethoven" and the "Beethoven" albums, or between the "Bach" album and the "Bach" album.

I've set the Album tag, I've set all the other tags as well as I can, but something refuses to play ball, and I can find no explicit documentation, and testing has a turn-around time in the tens of minutes....

Is there any reason to assume that Serviio will not be able to serve up about 20-100 thousand tracks in an intelligible way, or am I just not using it correctly?

HELP!
Serviio 2.3 in a jail on TrueNAS 13 running on an HP N54L w 5*4 TB spinning rust disks.
The media files are on the same machine.

Album is actually taken from the Album tag, but there's a bug; "-" is not allowed!

Not sure I understand the question, can you post some example metadata and how they look in Serviio? I'm using a library that hides the low level stuff from me and is able to retrieve metadata from files, be it mp3, flac, m4a etc.

What low level library is that?

In sweeping terms, how do you use it? Do you request all metadata at once? Or one tag at a time?

And what do you use the data for??

Don't tell me it's a library that generates the menus directly??

What kind of limitations does that library have?

Re: Where do the Browsing Menu categories come from?

http://www.jthink.net/jaudiotagger/ is used to read tags from files.

The menu's are then populated based on the values in the tags.

Tags are also supplied to renderes that support them/via the CDS API.
