Samsung D6000 - 5.1 not working with serviio

Hi, I tested my TV's surround sound system with various youtube videos and it worked perfectly. Now that I am trying to play movies streamed by serviio, I only get stereo.

Under transcoding tab, in Audio Channels I selected Keep Original, saved and restarted the server. It didn't help. Also I checked to make sure that the videos I am trying to play are 3F2R/LFE.

I've been googling for a while now, and no luck. Any ideas?

Re: Samsung D6000 - 5.1 not working with serviio

depends on file type if surround sound is supported, by the device.

Re: Samsung D6000 - 5.1 not working with serviio

these should play natively, so if the TV supports surround sound it should work. Do you have it connected to your receiver via optical cable?
There might also be some option in the TV's audio settings about how it should pass through audio.

Re: Samsung D6000 - 5.1 not working with serviio

Yes, its connected through optical cable. I'm playing videos through samsung's smart hub. I accessed youtube videos through smarthub, and surround sound testing videos worked flawlessly. Then I accessed videos hosted on my computer, I connected to the serviio server on my computer using videos app on the smart hub, and the rear speakers aren't working.

Is it possible that the rear speakers are disabled for the video app, but enabled for the youtube app in the smarthub?

Re: Samsung D6000 - 5.1 not working with serviio

did quick google to confirm but it seems although Samsung say it SHOULD work, alot of owners have not managed to get the device to do 5.1 when streamed from a dlna server.

edit: after a bit more googling I found it will only work if audio is in a specific format " DD ac3 5.1 "

Re: Samsung D6000 - 5.1 not working with serviio

I tried running more videos and they appeared to work with the rear speakers. (Meaning the settings in the TV are set just fine!) Which is good, but I really want the other videos to work as well.

Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

please provide detail on file that works then maybe we can sort it out :)

but i have a feeling manually remuxing the file might need to be done.
