Can I set a transcoding bitrate threshold?
I'm kinda newbie to this whole transcoding thing, and am not a native english speaker so I'll try my best to be as clear as I can.
Here is a little background to my problem,
It may be kind of long, but will give you a better understanding of my issue, so perhaps you, the more experienced guys, will have suggestions for me that will resolve my issue, but in another way than what I'm asking for.
My cable company is also my ISP, so my cables receiver is also my router.
It has a built-in DLNA client feature (not sure what the correct term is, but I mean that if I set my PC as a DLNA server, I can connect, and watch videos, using my cables receiver's interface).
My computer (the DLNA server) connected to the router/cables receiver (DLNA client) directly with ethernet cable.
Both ports, on my PC and my router/cables receiver, and ethernet cable, are capable of 1GBit/sec.
Everything was working great for a while without transcoding,
But recently I've got my hands on several remuxed mkv's.
Those remuxed mkv's playback was really choppy, both the audio and the video, and after reading on the internet and on those forums I've encountered posts of people mentioning that DLNA have a maximum bitrate limit that it can handle,
Hence the use of transcoding.
Now all the videos are playing great, but I have several 'side-effects' of using transcoding.
First- now all subtitles are out of sync.
For all movies, subtitles appear about 1 second before the audio and video.
Second- Current playback time, and total playback time are always 00:00, instead of showing actual times,
Third- Which I'm guessing is, to some extent, related to the issue above, I've lost the ability to fast forward/backward.
Out of around 80 mkv's, I only have about 5 mkv's that needs to be transcoded,
And after a quick look at several of the mkv's infos, it seems that the video bitrate is the only way I can differentiate between them.
So currently I can either disable transcoding, and loose the ability to watch those 5 remuxed mkv's (maybe will be more in the future), or continue transcoding, and 'suffer' from the issues mentioned above for all of the videos.
Is there a way I can set some sort of bitrate threshold, that transcoding will only happen for mkv's with higher bitrate than this threshold?
Thanks in advance guys.
