Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

Just installed Serviio today on an iMac. I hope to stream to a Samsung D6000; but, it does not show up in Render Profiles although the D6000 is ping-able from the iMac (Lion). Nor does the Serviio server appear on the D6000.

Buuuuuut, I also have an LG Bluray player on the same network and it DOES show up in the Serviio console and streams great (selecting the LG player input on the TV) . I do not think there is a problem with Serviio. Other posts suggest the Allshare release in July by Samsung may have broken something but that's a long time ago to not be fixed.

The iMac, D6000 and LG Player are all connected via WiFi. Router, PC, TV all rebooted. D6000 has latest updates (one just came out yesterday).

There is not much on the Samsung side for Mac DLNA server support. I am trying to find successful Mac/Serviio/Samsung installation guidance.

All help appreciated.

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

This could be caused by you having multiple IP addresses on the machine and Serviio binding to a wrong one. Insert IP address of the machine running Serviio into 'Bound IP address' field in Network Settings section in the console or pass system variable serviio.boundAddr including the IP address when starting the server.

Also make sure that TCP port 8895 and UDP 1900 are open in your firewall.

You may also wnt to set prefered/reserved Ip address's for all your devices ( from inside your router ) to be on safe side too.

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

Thanks for quick reply.
First, to update settings info:
- All devices on my LAN have fixed IP addresses.
- Serviio to LG player (then output to the D6000 (and sound system) from the player) continues to work fine. Serviio is great.
- Bound IP address of the iMac is set in Serviio.

Changes and results:
- On D6000, I redid the network setting to different IP on the D6000. ***see below for odd thing.
- I downloaded Samsung remote app to iPhone.
- After changing IP address of D6000, iPhone found the TV and it worked.
- Serviio now also found the TV and identified the right renderer profile for it. Green light on the profile.
- iMac showed up in Allshare devices list from the Network tab on the D6000.

Buuuuuuut, - Trying to start Allshare from Smart TV====>"No devices connected" instead of finding Serviio.

Pretty sure:
- Serviio is installed, set and working fine. It does play through LG player and finds the D6000 now.
- Router and addressing in the router are good.

Next:
Considering restoring TV to factory defaults and redoing my settings.

***Now the odd thing. When I changed the IP address of the TV, BOTH THE OLD AND THE NEW addresses SHOWED UP in the Attached Devices tab of the router diag displays. BOTH were ping-able. BOTH HAD THE SAME MAC ADDRESS.
I reset the router several times; powered the TV on/off, removed the Samsung Linkstick. The old, original IP address of the TV kept coming back!! Duplicate MAC addresses can play havoc on a LAN but it looks like there is something in this TV that Allshare must use. Btw, I changed the D6000 IP address back to the original one and the working status above is with that address. All works except for Allshare finding devices.

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

ok i will be honet im alittle stupted on this one. please can you confirm what you mean by STATIC ip as this term has been so miss used over the year its unsure what u mean do you mean

1. Fixed ips for all devices with DHCP turned off ( real old school )

2. reserved/prefered ips via DHCP.

now as for all share, this could be cause by Ip conflict issues or as you say resetting the d6000 maybe all that needed to fix this.

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

Resetting the D6000:
- I held the EXIT button on the remote for 10 secs and TV entered reset mode.
- Reentered channels, a couple of settings only and followed onscreen dialog.
- Surprisingly, this reset DID NOT require redownloading apps, and unfortunately, redefining network information. This seems odd but I did what Samsung said.

The Router:
- By "static IP", I mean I manually define the IP addresses (do not use DHCP) for certain devices (e.g., primary PC, Vonage adapter, printer, LG player and Samsung TV, my mobile phone) on the network to ensure they never change and I know what they are on the network.
- I do run DHCP on the router for guests and, by firewall, disallow the DHCP-assigned addresses from getting to my home computer. You never know where the kids' PCs, phones, etc., have been!!

Progress:
- After all of this and the usual reboots of everything, when I start Serviio I get a popup for it on the TV and IT LAUNCHES ON THE D6000!!!!!---and I can browse folder titles for a few minutes. Npo content or medis every plays or shows up on the D6000 though. (Again, all works well and as expected on the LG Bluray player so I steer away from too many Serviio changes).
- In a short while, the D6000 still shows Serviio running and the Allshare screen, but I get an error message that no content is available.
- If I exit Allshare, I get "No device connected" error message when I try to restart Allshare. My iMac stays in the Samsung Media table, though.
- Heading to the Serviio logs to see what they have to say for these next steps.
- I'm making a giant LAN cable to wire the TV to the router as numerous forum posts for Samsung wax about WiFi reasons for what I seem to get now. Will also try "extending" the LinkStick with a long male-to-female USB cable and getting it close to the router. Btw, I am connecting via a WiFi-n connection so the LAN traffic for most media is usually pretty zippy.
- I sort of want to change my TV IP address again to see if two IP's show up after the reset but I just hate to risk losing the ground I've gained.

Thanks again for the dialog. I reiterate my compliments for Serviio. It installs and works very well on the iMac. I do have to browse more the settings to see if I can tell it is serving or has collected the info from the media folders.

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

SUCCESS.

Recapping for anyone else with similar configuration: Samsung D6000, iMac running OS/Lion, D-Link DSL+ Modem (N)/Router, LG Bluray Player.

Serviio is now working on my D6000. One problem solved and a few usage notes for how Serviio appears in the Samsung Smart TV menu.

I had originally configured the TV with a 60+' LAN cable across 3 rooms before the WiFi LinkStick came. At the time I had given up on Allshare because of the Windows requirement. The LinkStick arrived, I set it up using the same LAN address and everything worked fine for streaming Smart TV apps. The wire got rolled up and put away! Then I found Serviio and the fun began.

If I configured the D6000 with WiFi and the LAN address (...249) I used when it was wired. "Serviio" didn't work. If I changed the WiFi LAN address, my router showed 2 IPs, both ping-able and both with the same MAC address for the TV!!! ...249 was always there and, any new WiFi IP address I used showed up. I got a little way into Serviio working but nothing constant or consistent.

Nothing I did could get rid of ...249. UNTIL, I ran my 60-footer again and went into wired configuration and still saw the ...249 address. I nulled-out the wired LAN settings, disconnected the wire, reconnected the LinkStick and VOILA...no more ...249 and only one IP on the router. Also, smooth operation of Serviio.

Not being a network person (and also a new Mac user), I think this is a Samsung firmware problem. I do the same (same wired/WiFi IP address) with other devices and I have never seen this happen before as long as one interface is active at a time.

Other notes for Samsung/iMac users, uncorroborated as of now as I am only now seeing expected results.
1. When you select Allshare from the Smart TV menu, the error "No device connected" appears. No need to worry; see #3. I guess this is "normal".

2. I usually made sure Serviio was up and the iMac is not asleep before starting the TV. (This is not critical as stopping and starting the Serviio server finds the TV easily.) The iMac does seem to sleep with only Serviio running--even though no sleeping on network activity is checked. It does not sleep when downloading big files, however.

3. If you go to the Smart TV menu items for Photo, Video or Music--you are attached to Serviio on the iMac just as if it were a USB attached storage device. Obviously, I do not have much experience with the interface as of yet. I did use a Serviio "path", not a "local" definition, for the iTunes library. This save a lot of clicking through the folder view to find music.

4. The Samsung C/D profile is not rendering my .mov files. The Samsung B profile does when I use it on the D-series TV.

5. Videos get very flaky names and I have seen other posts for this. I tried using "No descriptive metadata" but no change.

6. WiFi (N) seems very stable and workable.

7. Played with changing cores number for transcoding. No apparent affect I see?

8. Looking for info on what Display Category and Display Content-Only is supposed to do. Looking for the most facile navigation on the TV.

All-in-all, Serviio is very nice and I recommend it. Also, the support dialog very responsive.

6. The album art for the PLAYING audio selection never changes; the song title and other data do. Album art does appear correctly on other selection screens, just not on the playing screen.

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

Thank you man!

I have a similar problem on my Samsung 46D7000: it can't play any video find - he even was not able show any video content on my Serviio server.

But as soon as I have switched from AUTO-CHOOSEN SAMSUNG TV / PLAYER (C/D SERIES) Renderer Profile to SAMSUNG TV (B-SERIES) I was able to see video :)

So it's a bug in serviio profiles :)

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

thats because mov files need to be transcoded for the D series and NOT the C series.

a simple change to the profile is required to solve this.

unfortunately im not at home to post it :( sorry but hopefully one of the other helper will.

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

Tried some profile edits I found in other posts for .mov transcoding. Nothing seems to work for me and still using B-series profile successfully. Not sure what I am losing, though, and would appreciate post for D-series changes.

Thanks.

Re: Samsung D6000 No Devices Found in Allshare

Has this been solved?
I have a Samsung D series that will not play the following RSS .mov links.
I have tried with and without transcoding enabled.
