DLNA Samsung UE40D5700 (Serviio - AllShare - ...)

I'm having a problem getting movies to play on my new UE40D5700. My tv sees Serviio or Samsung's AllShare just fine and i can play whatever i share but it's constantly buffering. The movie files first load for about 30 seconds, then plays for maximum 10 seconds, then loads again for 10-20 seconds, then plays again for 10 seconds, and so on.

I have a wired network through a switch, not a router (not sure if that could cause a problem ?). The thing is that i can play movies from youtube just fine without any buffering and barely a couple seconds initial loading.

Any ideas what could be wrong ?

I am surprised that it is even working at all. The computer running serviio and the renderer needs to be on the same IP subnet. Serviio is using 81.83.79.190 and the samsung TV is using 84.196.23.140

Ok, i solved this problem by manually inputting network settings in the tv. But now i've lost internet connection on the tv.

I set :

ip to 81.83.79.191 (pc is 81.83.79.190)
subnet mask to 255.255.254.0
gateway to 81.83.78.1

(found those in ipconfig)

But then it ask me for a DNS server and i'm not sure where to find that. I tried the one it fills in when i let it set up the network settings automatically (195.130.130.132) but that doesn't work.

Any ideas ?

Your IP addresses are not standard. The standard Home network IP addresses are something like the following.

192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.90

Your internet IP might be the 81.83.79.190, but anything on your personal home network probably should be on 192.168.x.x. I know this is how it is in the USA, not sure how it is anywhere else.

Anyone in UK or anywhere else want to chime in on what the normal Ip addresses for home networks in your area is.

for DNS in USA I use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 which are google DNS servers.

what is the brand of router you are using?

I'm not behind a router, i'm using a D-Link DES-1005D switch. The weird thing is that when i manually put the network info in my tv, it says it can't find the network. But a minute later, the Serviio thing pops up and it works fine. When i go back to check the network settings, it still says it can't find a network .. But Serviio works fine and very fast. I'm a complete noob to networks obviously lol

Using that switch, instead of a router is causing all your problems. Right now your TV and computer can be directly accessed from the internet. Using a router with a hardware firewall will protect your devices and allow them to work together better, while maintaining full internet connection for each device.
