Version 1.0.1 not working

I have a (UK) Sony KDL40CX-523 and have used Serviio V 0.6.2 for months without problems.
After upgrading to the new version many, but not all, files of various types will not play correctly - stuttering/jumping/freezing/no audio etc.
The same files play perfectly on the previous version so I have completely uninstalled V1.0.1 and re-installed V0.6.2 and normal service has been resumed.
I note that other posters have had problems with the new version and not being technical I do not profess to understand the reasons given. All I want is to select the file and play so, for the moment, I'll stick with the old version which works.
Evidently, in my case, new isn't always better

Similar situation here, just not quite as hopeless.

I upgraded from 0.6 to 1.0.1 (all versions between had stuttering issues). Haven't tried enough online sources to judge which of them had audio and which hadn't, but my main issue is that those of my videos which are avc/aac play silently with 1.0.1, while others which are avc/ac3 play fine. If I read the Bravia 2011 profile correctly, both avc/aac and avc/ac3 should be just remuxed. No luck with Bravia 2010 profile either.

I was aware that there is a thread about online audio issues, and the chances were good for being told "mate, we are talking about online issues here" over there. So I just thought I might put my offline audio issues somewhere else...

Never mind, I'll give the online audio issues thread just a few days to mature and see if the solution does apply to mute playback of offline content as well.

As a result of having to revert to an earlier version, each time I switch the PC on I get the Console splash screen and a reminder to update to a new version.
I obviously don't want to update because of the problems I had so, is there any way of disabling this reminder which is becoming an annoyance

Serviio does not necessarily need the console running for normal service operation. You may as well remove it from the start menu's startup folder, and if you should wish to access the console, use the desktop icon to fire it up. The update message will still show up, but much less frequently.

As a quick workaround, I went into the Sony 2012 profile and commented out just the three matching rules that prevent aac audio from being transcoded. Formerly mute videos play with ac3 sound now.

And I commented out the ruleset from online transcoding section which does _not_ transcode audio and get sound from online sources as well.

Just workarounds though, maybe we can trick the Bravias into properly accepting aac audio.

I had 2 issues upgrading to 1.0.1 from 0.6.2

1. Choppy playback
2. Aspect ration on my KDL55HX820 & KDL40NX710

i addressed problem 2 by replacing the profiles.xml file with the back the installer created when installing,

but the choppy playback i cant seem to solve, can anyone point me in the right direction when i can download, 0.6.2 from... i think at this point id like to rollback until the kinks aresorted out.

1.0 and 1.0.1 had no changes that could be relevant to what you're seeing. Are you using the right profiles?

I added this to the 2011 profile to get online audio working, seems to do the job but not for iplayer. I've not investigated any further as yet

And I commented out the first ruleset in sony2012's OnlineTranscoding section to leave everything to the second ruleset, which transcodes any online audio to ac3.

In the meantime I went back to my trusted 0.6 version and found that aac had to be transcoded back then as well. Is it vaguely possible that the Bravias don't like aac in an mpegts container at all? I seem to remember that we once could play matroska/avc/aac and matroska/avc/ac3 natively when we tricked the Bravias into playing matroska without remuxing it. The cost back then was the inability to pause/resume, fastforward or rewind such a stream.

To clarify you've got files stored locally with AAC that don't play on your 2011 sony ? What model have you got and what firmware version are you on ?

For the record, I've got a KDL-37EX723 and KDL-26EX320 both running firmware "PKG4.012EUA" from 10th August 2012

I think we speak of different things here. I meant "online" as in "OnlineTranscoding" of internet sources, opposed to playing back files stored locally (i.e. on a server in my own basement), delivered by Serviio. Haven't tried playing back files from a local storage (USB) on the TV yet.

As stated above I think the Bravias don't like the mpegts/avc/aac combination created by Serviio remuxing processes following suitable matching rules. I'm pretty sure this applies to transcoding/remuxing of online (=internet) sources as well, but that's another thread. We could try remuxing some mkv/avc/aac file to ts and feeding it to the TV "locally" via USB. Haven't got any FAT formatted stick at the moment though...

Exactly. Main difference is that a mov/avc/aac file that plays fine from USB is delivered as mpegts/avc/aac through DLNA, a combination the Sonys don't seem to like.
