[SOLVED] 1.0.1 SONY Bravia - Video Freeze but Sound OK

Hi,

I have recently upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 and Serviio 1.0.1 and since then ffmpeg was not working and I have recompiled from the git. AVI files work fine.

HD MKV files play fine for the first few seconds then the picture freezes and the audio continues OK.

I have tried both wireless and wired but that does not make any difference; the video freezes in the same place every time but the audio continues.

I have compiled ffmpeg from the git on the 4th September as you can see from my manual run of the ffmpeg command found in the serviio.log:

No errors in the serviio.log. CPU and memory on the server are fine during the transcoding. Any ideas to what is causing the picture to freeze or potential solutions?

top is showing my CPU as 50% idle during the manual running of ffmpeg.

Which position? Could you check the video bitrate with this tool http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=vbitrate
Does the transcoding process finishes at the end of file or crashes at your "freeze" position ?

It freezes about 4-5 secs in when the red dexter logo comes up.

Nothing wrong with the file as it plays fine directly through xbmc or PC.

I am at work but will upload the nitrate output later.

Also, the transcoding continues in the background and does not crash I just cancel it shortly after the video freezes bit sound continues. The video never recovers no matter how long you leave it.

That should be good, I usually seen some problems around 20Mbps, with some Sony Bravia.
I noticed that your file use "variable frame rate mode", not sure Sony devices support this well.

Frame rate mode : Variable
Original frame rate : 23.976 fps

Could you try with TsMuxertools to remux the file and force frame rate to 23.976fps (there were some options, like change "framterate")

Check the frame rate mode of your 480p. Do you try with TsMuxer ?
Check that you have the latest git version or check this : http://www.serviio.org/download

Bitrate of 4,000 average with 10,000 peak for the 480p mkv file.

I remuxed the 720p mkv to fixed frame rate of 24 fps but this also changed the format to m2ts (which plays fine through Serviio). However I don't fancy having to remux all my mkv videos to get them to play.

This is my version of ffmpeg version git-2012-09-04-d83ff76.

Any ideas?

Removed and recompiled ffmpeg to the version you linked to on the serviio download link and its now working with no freezing
