TC-P55ST30 aspect ratio issue

I have a few MKV files that are being stretched vertically. I can't seem to figure out how to have them not stretch during transcoding. I tried adding the DAR="16:9" to the profile but that didn't do anything.

With the same files, Mezzmo was able to display them properly with out the vertical stretch.

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks...

Re: TC-P55ST30 aspect ratio issue

Try disabling transcoding in the console and play the mkv then.

Re: TC-P55ST30 aspect ratio issue

The tv says it can't read the file with transcoding turned off.

Re: TC-P55ST30 aspect ratio issue

Probably because the source is a not supported h264 resolution, and with serviio, h264 video will be remuxed in the same resolution. with mezzmo, video is probably transcode to mpeg2video with a good resolution.

When you add the DAR option, do you also force h264 video to be transcoded to mpeg2video ?
Could you provide information about this file ?

What is the h264 profile level of your c:\videos\te2.mkv' file? check with MediaInfo tool...

With your file, this previous modification will have no impact, this is for level>4.1 file. yours = 4.1

Add this at the begening of your profile:
  Code:
<Transcoding>
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" forceInheritance="true" DAR="16:9">
            <Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" />
         </Video>

Re: TC-P55ST30 aspect ratio issue

Can someone explain where exactly to add this entry in my profiles.xml. Does it replace whats there or maybe paste in a working file with this setting.

I tried a few file edits and serviio would not start so I had to back them out.

Thanks!

Re: TC-P55ST30 aspect ratio issue

That solved it for me...

I also have this issue with some .avi files (xvid i believe)... how could that additional line be modified to do the same for those?

thanks
