Still Can't get metadata perfect

Hi,

I've got a library of over a thousand movies which have mostly been correctly identified by themoviedb.org however I've got a stubborn selection that simply will not be tamed.

I'd hoped that I could create .NFO files for the unrecognised files but as serviio looks at the online source first it hasn't helped. I don't want to have to go back through the 1100 movies and create .NFO files for all of them.

Could serviio not simply change the meta source order, if an .NFO is available it is used, then it moves on to the online source for the rest? Surely that makes perfect and reasonable sense?

The films I cannot resolve are...

Instead all I get is a list of 14 films called 12 and 3 called 15!!

These are exactly as listed on themoviedb.org but for whatever reason they are not correctly being resolved. If you copy/paste the titles into the website they're not found either, which really doesn't help my sanity!!

How can I get out of this hole I'm in?

I've got 1129 movies that are identified correctly and these 17 that won't play ball.

Could I just put the imdb identifier somewhere in the filename?

Cross checking a few I have - try renaming your files to (use whatever file extension it is currently):

• Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.mkv - I don't have the year on this one, works fine, but if you're sure that the year is correct leave it in - I suspect its the "-" in your filename.
• Twilight New Moon (2009).mp4
• Twilight Eclipse (2010).mp4
• X-Men Origins Wolverine (2009).avi - same as you???
• The Chronicles of Riddick Dark Fury (2004).mp4 - same as you???

Something to try: remove all the special characters [.-'] from the file names. Also:

• do you use Filebot to help resolve names - if not, highly recommended (see my post here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10626&p=70544#p70544).
• make sure the folder name also don't have special characters. Does "12" or "15" appear in the path anywhere?
• do these movies show up under the Folders category?
• last, if none of the above helps try posting a detailed log after pressing the library refresh.

When pasting into the themoviedb.com remove the year from the pasted filename - that should then find the movie.

I'm away from that setup now so can't try your suggestions, although I suspect removing the special characters may help. On themoviedb.org when I include the year in brackets these files didn't provide a result at all.

More frustrating is the fact that I have the same list of files on a different server added at an earlier date and they have all been correctly identified.

Instead I have Flashdance (1983).mp4 that refuses to be identified. Flashdance.mp4, flash dance.mp4 & Flash Dance (1983).mp4 don't work either. Is serviio simply making a stand against 80s leotards?

How difficult would it be to allow the user to choose the order of preference for metadata sources.

I'll let you know how I get on with the list of 17. The files on that server have been categorised by BBFC age rating so that would explain the 14 named 12 and 3 named 15.

It seems I could not resolve the issues with any of the files I listed.

However, once I moved them into the 'root' directory of my Films folder, they were then correctly identified.

So it was my sorting of them by BBFC age rating that had contributed to the fault.

Would I need a more descriptive folder name than 12, say '12 certificate movies' or something. Incidentally why does the metadata search seem to find the name of the folder more important than the name of the actual file? Isn't that a little backwards?

I have a Samsung TV that has a 1000 item limit and will not provide a second page so I decided to sort the films as above so the TV could cope.

Version 1.4 of Serviio will include a feature to categorise movies by Rating (uses MPAA movie rating from the metadata) - this may resolve your issue.

Other than that, there is something in the folder name that Serviio doesn't like. You will probably need to play with the folder names to work it through (eg. try a more descriptive folder name as you suggest).

Ooh, if you're going to implement age ratings in the next version, will we be able to set a watershed where anything above a certain rating would only be served after a set time. I.E. no R ratings between 4am and 9pm?

Not in the next release. It's one for the developer (zip) but you may want to request the feature (there have been similar requests, but none time based afaik).
