Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
serviio is installed on a PC which has 3 network cards.
no1 is connected to the internet IP address is given by the cable modem.
no2 is connected to the local network (192.168.0.1) through a linksys gigabit switch (the tv is connected to the same switch) the ip address of the tv is 192.168.0.6 assigned by DHCP
no3 is a Wlan card (192.168.200.1) working as an access point
all routing and ics are done by a fully licensed version of wingate 6.6.4
and the platform is windows xp pro 32bit

Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
theres your issue then DLNA is not designed to work with virtualised network routing, it has to be bound to an actual network adaptor NOT a virtual one.

Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
Virtualized routing? What the hell does that even mean?
Still I don't think that's the problem, as I've said, even when pressing info on files it reports the wrong filesize. Explain how can that be caused by any network configuration? I can't even find words how stupid that sounds.
And also, if it were truly a DLNA problem, nothing would work, but this happens only with serviio. No other application has this problem. I know why don't I use the other ones then? Because they have other problems that makes them useless.

put basicly its affecting the way the file is trasmitted, causing the issues you are seeing.

Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
Cerberus, you were right. I solved my stops problem changing the network cable and conectors. Now everything is working 100% on 0.6.2 version. I just played 3 entire mkv movies without interruption or skiping to the next one. Regards from Brasil.

and when this happens with no virtual routing in place? running serviio 0.6.2 on my unRAID box, no transcoding, to my oppo bdp-93. The files play fine via VLC on my laptop over wifi and some of the files have played without issue via other DLNA servers. This happens on random movies at random times within the movies (repeats at the same point in each movie, but that point is different from movie to movie, if that makes sense)
Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
btw, these same movies play fine via twonky.
Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
I have the same problem on BOTH 0.6.1 & 0.6.2. I have no virtual networking but am using a TrendNet Powerline network. The same files play fine on other media servers, but I have this problem on my Samsung TV, XBMC on my wireless laptop, XBMC on my iPad, and XBMC on a wired PC
Serviio is running on Debian Linux on a dlink DNS -325.
Dlink dns 325 is connected to switch # 1
PC #1 using XBMC is directly connected to switch #1 wired.
Trendnet Powerline adapter #1 is connected to switch #1
Samsung TV is connected to TrendNet Powerline adapter #2
Wireless router is connected to Powerline adapter # 3
Laptop running XBMC is connected to wireless router
iPad running XBMC is connected to wireless router
I start a Ping -t to dlink nas and PC #1 from laptop when the movie starts. When the movie drops on the laptop, ping output shows no packet loss. That would seem to suggest there is no transport issue.
Also important to note that this also happens on PC#1 which is directly connected via a switch to the Dlink running Serviio. The MKV will just stop as if it has come to the end of the file. On a given file this will happen at a different place each time, but that same file will play with no issues on other media servers.

Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
Found a fix - Switched to Twonky Server and everything works great.

Found a fix. Uninstalled Serviio and installed Twonky! Watched several movies simultaneously, no problems. They now play all the way through.
I guess the developers wish to bury their head in the sands about this bug which is in 0.6.1 and 0.6.2. That's too bad because Serviiio is really very good.
The root of the problem seems to be that for some users Serviio restarts randomly and if you are watching a movie when it does, it will stop playing.
Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
It's hard for me to fix it if I can not reproduce it. If you can produce a (smallish) file and upload it somewhere then I can see what I can do.

the fix is to update the version of ffmpeg which has been identified as the culprit in other threads.
Re: MKV playback stops halfway through
Wow, Guys. You do know that you are getting a great DLNA server for free. I've been researching other (paid) versions and their support community is no where near as good as here.
Take it easy on these devs.
