i can see and browse my folders with media content, but when i trying to open any of them (final folders which contain's media files) the message "Request cannot be completed. MEDIA PLAY will return to the main screen" comes on!
All settings are same for both of my TV's, but another one (E-series) work's very good with Serviio.

Did you try with 1.3? If it still fails, provide detailed log of the point when it fails.

Re: support serie F (2013)

Hei!

I have still sound problems with F8000 with new 1.3 software.
I installed 1.3 on SuSE 12.3 and when I start server, then everything is OK.
After some watching time, starts small interrupts of sound.
Picture is ok (no stops or stills), but sound interrupts time after time.
These interrupts are very short, but still annoying - especially when listening music.
Can I provide some detailed log or what else can I do?

Re: support serie F (2013)

This might be due to network, the way the file is encoded or limitations of the TV. Detailed log will not help, as the file is just streamed and up to the TV to play it properly.

Re: support serie F (2013)

I think there is a conflict between the Samsung new F-series firmware and serviio.
Because:
    problems began when I upgraded fw (thumbnails disappeared)
    the same file playing on E-serie TV (the same network) without interrupts,
    no matter what file I choose (with DTS or AC3),
    when I use a different server (PLEX or Synology Media Server) there are no interrupts

Can someone confirm this problem? Someone who have F-serie TV?

yes i did.
1.3 is allready installed, and unfortunately it is no changes for me :-(

i have folder "Movies" whith media content (a lot of movies) which is located on disc "E" on my computer.

when I select the Serviio on my F-series TV I can see the disc "E", then I select it and can see the folder "Movies", then I select it and TV shows me the massege: "Request cannot be comleted. MEDIA PLAY will return to the main screen."
this is it. All what can I do next it's try the same from the begining.

my another TV (E-series) works good. Both of them conected to my computer via Ethernet.

Samsung TV UE55F6400 - 1105 latest update.
both TVs works good with "ALLshare Samsung"

may I provide something else?

Re: support serie F (2013)

Is it possible to rollback the firmware update on the tv? I had movie thumbnails before the update but not now so I was wondering if its possible to go back to the previous update, at least until a newer firmware comes out...I really miss my thumbnails :(

Re: support serie F (2013)

Given the massive lip-sync issues in earlier firmwares, I cannot recommend a roll back.

I have a UE46F6670 (fw 1107.4) and Serviio 1.3 works fine here (see below).

The best way to "work around" the Samsung bugs is to go Source->Serviio->ALL CONTENT (that's important!!) and then choose Video/Music/Images category afterwards.

Going directly to "Videos" results in the message you see. Strangely images and music are fine.

Zip has (based on debug logs I supplied) put a "hack" in to 1.3 which sort-of allows the "videos" shortcut to work (you need to choose "folder" view from the top-right as well).

Brammers - can you still reproduce the crash even with 1.3? If yes, can you post detailed log of it happening?

Re: support serie F (2013)

I don't know if this is a model specific thing, but since have a F7005 Samsung I'll write it here.

When watching normal TV broadcast, I use volume level 5-10. When watching anything from Serviio, I need to use volume levels 35-40. Anything can be done to this and/or is this a "feature" with any TV or just Samsung (or indeed F7000)?

I would be nice to know the answer for this, so hope someone can help me. Thank you in advance.

The workaround appears to work OK here in 1.3.

You need to do the "folders" trick, otherwise it defaults you to a funny "last added" kind of view - but there is definitely no more error message.

Re: support serie F (2013)

I have a C series Samsung and a F Series Samsung.

The C series Samsung had a software called "Media Play" to play your movies. The Fast Forward and Rewind speeds were kick ass.

You take the C Series off the LAN and replace it with the F Series and the Fast Forward and Rewind speeds are snail-like (painfully slow). The new Smart Hub software sucks (with their Fast Forward/Rewind capabilities) compared to the "Media Play software that came with the older model Samsung's.

Somebody fucked up at Samsung (like usual). Their DLNA rendering software is always released too soon without any quality control.

Re: support serie F (2013)

Thumbnails for Video Files are still not displayed in v1111 i've just updated my F Series to

From reading this thread it apears that although serviio dev's would like to do something about this, they dont seem to get the right hints/answers from the users - so in favour of fixing this once and for all I'll make another attempt:

  • Do thumbnails work for any kind of video files served by serviio?
    --> No
  • Are thumbnails displayed when serving the same Content with Samsung Allshare Software?
    --> Yes
  • Do Thumbnails work for other media types served by serviio? (Photos, Music)
    --> Yes, both
  • Is there any change in this behaviour between directly chosing "Video" and "All Content"
    --> No
  • Do these videos have a thumbnail in the Web Media Browser?
    --> Yes they do

So there must be a difference in either the thumbnails that serviio creates for video files or in the way the tv requests them ...

If there is any more information required, i'll be happy to supply it.

Same here

Same here + I am not capable to "resume" the videos. (EDIT: Resume option Works, if I set the "Samsung C/D/E/F" profile while watching a film)

TV: UE39F5700

Interesting. So ideally I'd like a Wireshark capture of communication between the

- TV and All Share
- TV and Serviio

All I need is to go to Videos, turn on capturing, go to Movies (let the thumbnails load), stop capturing

You can limit Wireshark to filter on the IPs of the TV and your PC only.

Here are 2 captures entering the same folder with the same (one) video file once with allshare (loading the thumbnail) and once with serviio (displaying the default video icon)

http://arni.name/drop/dlna/

I have verified that serviio is serving a thumbnail for this video file using a different dlna client

thanks for your help!

Re: support serie F (2013)

I just bought an F8000 yesterday and found this chain. Any updates on this problem or beta versions of serviio that might support thumbnails for the Samsung F series TVs?
