Something weird with Subs

I'm getting odd symbols on subtitles sometimes. In some Yify movies they shows correctly, and on some they doesn't. Actually i can go around this, by ticking Enable burned-in subtitles to "always" instead of "only when reguired" but, at then fast forward is disabled. Generally, as far i understand Yify uses external sub files and not burned-in?
But is there other way to fix these symbols? ie. Ä,Ö,Å is shown as some totally weird symbols :p
