Problem maintaining connection to TV from Windows 8.1

I have used Tversity for a few years with no problem - suddenly at the weekend my TV stopped seeing the connection to the server - I tried re-starting and even re-installng but to no avail so decided to install serviio instead. When I did it just worked in the same way that Tversity used to - so I thought great. however the next day I found the TV could not see the server, even though it was running. I restarted and was able to watch a couple of music videos but when I navigated to find another to find the TV said the connection to Serviio had been lost. I came back to the PC - serviio is still runnning and sees my TV but the TV does not see Serviio.

I have only encountered this issue since a recent upgrade from windows 8.0 to 8.1 - no updates have been delivered to the Samsung TV.
I have not experienced it dropping out whilst streaming something from my PC so far it has only been when navigating to find something else or after the TV has been switched off.
It is not the network because I user homeplugs and ethernet and the TV never loses the internet connection or show any disconnection from the network (the PC is on 24/7)

I wondered if anyone else had experienced issues in Win 8.1 and more importantly if you found a solution? I could understand if it refused to connect at all but to keep dropping the connection like this when nothing else is happening seesm odd
