online source on samsung H series

Hi Guys,

has anyone had any success watching an online source on a samsung H series TV? I tried different online sources, but TV plays none of them, complaining about "The selected file is not currently supported".I tried the same with other dlna client ( xbmc ), and works fine, I also tried with and F series 6500, and same error while with my old D8000 it was working just fine. Any clues? Did Samsung forbid this kind of content?

Nothing Samsung can do to block the content coming from a DLNA server such as Serviio. It either has to play everything or nothing. That said, I have no problem playing Crackle on my TV. It's the only online source I have configured. In fact, when I first tried it I was using the generic profile, so nothing was even being transcoded. Still played fine.

Re: online source on samsung H series

I was actually thinking more about format/container difference between static and stream content than a blocking from samsung side. I'm not really familiar with formats/containers, are the headers/contents one and the same for a static mkv file and a live stream? I guess a live stream should pass on the header with each chunk, so the playing can start at any point in time. not sure how does mkv handles the headers.
