Samsung UE46D6000 - timesearch

Hi Guys,

I have the Samsung UE46D6000 Smart TV which works with the Generic Profile of Serviio, but the sound is very poor. With the generic Profile the time search is working but the sound is really very poor. When I change the Profile to Samsung TV / Player C/D than the sound is great but I can not use anymore the time search function ? Is there some what I could change ?

Really would like to get the sound working proper :-)

Re: Samsung UE46D6000 - timesearch

The file is probably transcoded (thus losing the time search function), based on this line in the sam_ef profile:

  Code:
<Matches container="avi" vCodec="h264" />

Weird that the devices should not pay this file. Try disabling transcoding in the console - you'll probably get the same behaviour as with the generic profile. But if anything, sound should be better like this, without transcoding - unless the TV doesn't particularly like mp3.

Re: Samsung UE46D6000 - timesearch

well I running again the Samsung Profile but the issue is that the file is not getting transcoded. So its just streaming it to the TV and sound etc works fine, but the time search is not available. Seems to be only with the avi container. Just watchning a mp4, also not getting transcoded but there I have the Time Search available.

Re: Samsung UE46D6000 - timesearch

ah, so the TV somehow decides it won't support the trick mode. I think it's to do with the file encoding, but what exactly causes this, I'm not sure. You'd have to reencode your file, or at least remux to mp4 or mkv.

Thanks for Help anyway :-)

PS. When using the generic Profile than Time Search works with the same file and its also not getting transcoded. Anyway will just download them as mp4 format .....

Good luck getting Samsung to even understand what DLNA means :lol: . I've had great difficulty with them understanding the issue I am having with my HU8550. It took two months and two tech visits before they understood that there was a problem. They finally agreed to replace my set, but my dealer hasn't been able to get a new one in stock. Since my exchange is actually store credit, I may just get something else. Samsung's customer service isn't making me warm and fuzzy. :roll:

Are you sure its not being transcoded? By default, the Samsung C/D profile will transcode this file to an mpeg2 container, mpeg2 video and AC3 sound. The transcoding of the sound would explain why it sounds different.

Try remuxing the file to an MP4 container. This should allow the file to be played natively (plus H264 in a MP4 container is generally better supported by vendors than it is in an AVI container). You could also transcode the audio at the same time if that's needed.

Maybe you was right (anyway I didn't see any CPU usage which I would expect). So I disabled transcoding and now it plays the videos and time search is available with the Samsung profile. Strange .... anyway thanks for Help !
